Re: 2020 Democrat Challengers Part II: There Can Be Only One

Continue.

The Gathering is in Milwaukee!?

Pete: In fact, isn't "Milwaukee" an Indian name?
Alice Cooper: Yes, Pete, it is. Actually, it's pronounced "mill-e-wah-que" which is Algonquin for "the good land."
Wayne Campbell: I was not aware of that.

Waiting for someone to bring that up. :D

You'd think they'd pick a recreational pot state so that the Bernie Bros can puff away their sorrows when they don't get their way again. :D

Actually I think they chose the site so Pocahontas will feel at home. ;)

KIDDING, FOLKS, I AM KIDDING.

Good lord...those guys are too stupid to live. In other news Flaggy has joined their crew and Drew thinks they are geniuses :D

This is one of those jokes that say more about the teller than the ostensible topic. It's not so much that it's offensive. It's just that it's so unfunny; like elementary school humor. And yes, I recognize you were making fun of those people too, don't worry.

And yet, there are people, even here, who think it's the height of clever wit.

Would have liked Abrams to have run in Georgia. But lets not panic yet. They have a candidate in AZ and the bench is deep enough in CO to take down Gardner. That leaves in order Maine, North Carolina, Iowa, then Georgia/Texas.

Schumer needs to retire. He's starting to look like "Useless Harry Reid" as Rover used to call him.

I don't believe Collins is as vulnerable as people think. Iowa or NC seems doable (Iowa probably moreso than NC), but it will be extremely close. McSally is hated by Trumpers for being too moderate, but they will definitely show up to punch a straight 'R' ticket for Cheeto no matter what, so I'm putting AZ at 50/50. They need to compete in GA and TX, but neither is going blue in the Senate for another decade.

Chuck is a Wall Street Democrat. He is completely out of touch with where we are headed as a party and a country. He, Gillibrand, and Cuomo are all on the wrong side of history. It is about time the NY Democratic party started producing legitimate liberals.

NC is tricky. On the one hand the fix is in and the GOP vote suppression there is shameless. On the other hand Raleigh-Durham grew by about 20% the last decade and those are all educated northerners swarming in to drown the Jesse Helms MAGAts.

Like VA, the GOP will be able to hold the gate for a bit longer with more and more ludicrously dirty pool but when the dam breaks that's it. VA went from red to blue with no purple interregnum. NC will do the same -- its only a matter of how long the syphilitic status quo can hold on.

That's not a miss. Axne barely won her congressional seat - she carried 1 out 20 counties in the district. Granted it was the one with people in it (Polk county - aka Des Moines), but she couldn't even peel off Dallas County, which is the major suburban one. No way she wins a statewide race.

The Dems need to build up the undercard in Iowa. They got decimated 10 years ago, and are only now recovering. It doesn't help that Tom Miller, the longest serving AG in the country and nominally the top ranking Dem in the state, has never sent any of his lieutenants to higher office in the last 40 years.

Re: 2020 Democrat Challengers Part II: There Can Be Only One

A few thoughts...

1) Schumer is the least of our worries right now. Lets first gain the majority and then kick off the great purges within the party, not beforehand.

2) I think people are sick of Collins' disingenuous BS, which is going to cost her a lot more than when she'd escape with some favorable press from friendly reporters and by waving to the peasants in the airport. ;) The money the opposition raised for her unnamed challenger is no small amount by Maine standards.

3) Regarding NC, IIRC prior state elections were run with total GOP control of the government. Now the Gov, SoS and courts are all controlled by Dem, making voter suppression and those mysterious election night voting machine breakdowns that always seem to happen in Dem precincts that much harder to pull off.

4) If the bench just started to get rebuilt in Iowa in 2016, then look to an outsider. Similar thing happened in AZ (although they have a few more long serving Dem congresscritters) so the party went outside the norm and recruiting Gabby Giffords hubby to run. A smart get although he may not have the primary to himself which is okay.
