2019-20 D1 Scores

Re: 2019-20 D1 Scores

Minnesota 1, Wisconsin 0 after two. The story of the period was Wisconsin failing to turn territorial dominance into decent scoring chances.

Oh, and they finally. called a penalty, though in keeping with the theme, they undervalued it. I thought Wente deserved five for checking from behind, but only got two for boarding.

The refusal of the refs to call any penalties has reached absurd levels.

When I was in high school, there was an outside basketball court at a middle school with 8-foot rims. We used to play a sort-of basketball where - other than traveling - "anything goes". No fouls, goal-tending, whatever.

For some reason, that came to mind this weekend.

Ok, I think that DH said it's a sudden death shootout...So maybe, if the first team shooting misses, than the other team can win with a goal so it could be done after 1 round?

No idea.

The other thought I had was during 3-on-3, faceoff in the Wisconsin offensive zone with 5 seconds to play: can they pull their goalie and play the faceoff 4-on-3? I assume so, but...

The shootout after the 3 x 3 is a sudden death affair. The 3 x 3 is also only for a bonus point only and does not count for a win.

And that 'only a bonus point' currently has Minnesota in first place in the WHCA standings, if you count by 'standings points lost'.

Last year, Minnesota won the regular season championship by "only two bonus points". In 2016, Wisconsin won the regular season championship by "only a bonus point".

So my thought or question remains...
