2018 Midterms 2: I Need A Drink!

Re: 2018 Midterms 2: I Need A Drink!

All house flips have been to D, all Senate flips have been to R. Thus far.

Interesting dynamic.

Re: 2018 Midterms 2: I Need A Drink!

That will be key. What the Dems must do in the House is pass a lot of good legislation that people want and not worry about whether the President will sign it or the Senate will pass it. And then publish it all. Build a bank of legislation to run on in 2020.

Also, if enough governor races get picked up, some of this gerrymandering of districts can end up being reversed.

Re: 2018 Midterms 2: I Need A Drink!

This! This times one thousand! They need to just make a backlog of "good for everyone, good for the Nation" bills that will die a swift death in the Senate (or Presidential Desk if it makes it that far) and then beat Trump voters over the head with them starting in 2019.

If they do this and just get everything blocked by the Obstructors they will have a lot to run on in 2020.

First thing they should do is a bill to fix Obamacare. Fix all the problems that it originally had, make it sound financially, easy to enroll, and use, and cover everything that it needs to cover. Let the Repubs keep voting against it.

You know, all those Repubs who wanted to keep pre-existing conditions protections.

That...is a great idea!

Re: 2018 Midterms 2: I Need A Drink!

Jocelyn Benson finally getting her due as Michigan's next SoS, after getting hosed in the 2010 Red Tide.

Unfortunately, it appears MI-8 gets another 2 years of Stinking Bishop.

W/ 64% of precincts:
U.S. House District 8
Bishop: 125,612 (51.5%)
Slotkin: 111,858 (45.8%)

Considering Health Care worked this election it might work. They're going to have to do better expectation setting for the electorate. And they need to understand their bill this time. No Nancy saying we have to pass it to understand it crap. That could work.

Re: 2018 Midterms 2: I Need A Drink!

On the plus side, I'll be able to toke it all away! 420, wooooo!

W/ 34% of precincts reporting

Y: 1,049,083 (57.6%)
N: 771,058 (42.4%)

Prop 2 (Redistricting Commission)
Y: 1,084,397 (61.0%)
N: 693,138 (39.0%)

Prop 3 (Voter Reg Reform)

Exactly. It needs to be laid out to the people, point by point. What it does that benefits them. What makes it better than what they currently have. Why it's good for them.

Re: 2018 Midterms 2: I Need A Drink!

In NY-19, with 38%$ reporting, (D) Antonio Delgado leades incumbent Rep. John Faso 55%-43% in a heavily Trump district.

Re: 2018 Midterms 2: I Need A Drink!

MSNBC has switched from election coverage to full on discussion of subpoenas. LOL
