2018 LLWS: Jubilation for some, tears for the others

Re: 2018 LLWS: Jubilation for some, tears for the others

Haven’t seen a whole lot of games but dang that Michigan team looks mighty impressive.

They did last year, too, until they met a Texas team that commenced hitting the ball halfway to Maine on a regular basis.

Same area this year, different roster.

Puerto Rico and SoKo with a very fun 1st game, going into the 9th inning. SoKo didn't get their first hit until the 6th, tied it up at 2. Some high pressure situations through extras that the pitchers have gotten out of.

SoKo have never lost a LLWS opening game.

Re: 2018 LLWS: Jubilation for some, tears for the others

A walk, a couple hits, and a key error by the RF, and Michigan has come back in the 6th to tie Idaho, 4-4. Michigan still at the plate in the bottom of the 6th.

A line drive off the 3rd basemen's glove clear into LF. The shortstop air-mailed the relay to the plate. A good throw might have nailed the runner.

Michigan wins, 5-4.

"I gotta think about this"....

"Wait a minute. What am I doing here?"

These are two quotes that you do NOT want to hear from the manager at the LLWS, in the bottom of the 7th inning, of a scoreless tie, with the bases juiced and 1 out.

Re: 2018 LLWS: Jubilation for some, tears for the others

HI wins it on a walkoff blast.

This LLWS has gotten off to a pretty awesome start, with a couple LONG extra inning affairs.

Re: 2018 LLWS: Jubilation for some, tears for the others

Hawaii's not butchering plays in the field. They're running Michigan off the field now, 8-1, top 4.

Re: 2018 LLWS: Jubilation for some, tears for the others

Michigan was lucky to get past Idaho (who already got eliminated). A bad call with 2 outs in the 5th inning of that game set off a chain of events that set up that comeback.

I’d have an eye on the New York team right about now.

The NY team is definitely good, just question their pitching behind the ace and their offense. Hawaii seems like the most complete US team.

Michigan finally coming to life here. Iowa leads 4-3, bottom of the 5th.

ETA: Michigan has now plated 3 in the 5th to tie it at 4.

Re: 2018 LLWS: Jubilation for some, tears for the others

There's also been atleast 3 fantastic defensive plays in this game, could all probably make SC top 10.

Re: 2018 LLWS: Jubilation for some, tears for the others

So did they get the parents to sign a release to wear these green hats that are obviously promoting some cause?

That "some cause" is for Sports Matter, which supports youth and the importance of youth sports around the world. Dick's Sporting Goods is primarily associated with it. There are far worse "causes" that could be forced upon them.

GA and TX with yet another extra inning thriller, GA advancing to face MI tomorrow. NY and HI will meet for a spot in the US Championship Wedsnesday.
