I was pretty much right with the west. I'm a little surprised to see that River Falls is 1. I though Adrian would have jumped over them, but I suppose it could be hurting Adrian that their losses are to a ranked team where River Falls' losses are not. I don't know how St Scholastica is ranked over Eaau Claire.

Anyone else surprised by the east rankings?? I guess Elmira lost to Norwich and tied Midd...seems like 2-4 are a toss up there. Oswego is in 4th place in the ECAC-W and has lost to Hamilton and some lesser ECACW teams. Hamilton has some bad losses as well but swept Middlebury. Granted the 5 slot isn't that important unless your trying to build a case for an east team over a west team ;). But you'd have to think if it came down to Oswego vs Lake Forest for the last slot Lake Forest would win that comparison.

These are rankings.... what about the upsets? Who is most likely to be upset and who's going to upset someone? And seriously, Endicott?

The 'regional rankings' diminish Adrian's SOS due to play in the East. The DIII KRACH has Adrian's SOS #3 after Plattsburgh and Elmira (Wisconsin-River Falls is #18 in KRACH). I thought some forum western pundit wrote the Gustavus season off long ago?

Hypothetically Eau Claire could upset River Falls but it seems like that wouldn't matter with the Pool B action.

The real question is, will the upsets matter? The only team I could see getting in with an upset at this point is Middlebury since they are ranked #2. If Gustavus doesn't win the MIAC, I don't see them getting in. Plattsburgh is in. I'd assume Adrian is in. So you'd have have to have at least 3 upsets before it would really matter. If Middlebury, Plattsburgh and Adrian all lose conference tourneys than who gets left out...probably Adrian. Lol

They changed it a few years ago so cross-region games count. Note that the headings on the stat sheet say "In-Division" (i.e. Excluding non-d3 games) rather than "In-Region" or something similar. So I see no reason those games shouldn't count...

NESCAC fans aren't thrilled by Oswego, but they beat Plattsburgh. they are downright baffled by Endicott. The three they best are Bowdoin, Trinity, and Colby. They tied Wesleyan. How does a good record against the bottom half of the conference put them above Hamilton and Conn? Apparently all teams should play in a powderpuff conference they can beat up on and win a couple of games against middling teams in real conferences. At least Platty and Elmira play the cream of the crop out of conference.

To be fair...Hamilton went 0-1-1 vs Morrisville, went 1-1 vs Bowdoin, went 0-1-1 vs Wesleyan, 1-1 vs Trinity, and 2-0 vs Colby.

Hamilton is 4-4-2 vs the teams you listed while Endicott is 4-1-1.

Conn is also 4-4 against those teams.

Take their wins against Colby out: Endicott 3-1-1, Hamilton 2-4-2, Conn 2-4...so does it make sense??

These factors were not used this week. Rank will be used in next weeks rankings. I supplied links to the static sheets used this week in post 67 above.

Correct. 8 would play 9 mid-week, probably a Wednesday. As much as its a "pain" that the bracket is no longer symmetric, it's a much needed addition so that there will be two Pool C (at-large bids) available, which is an NCAA rule. Next season there would have only been one Pool C bid available with the Colonial coming on board as an auto-bid conference if they stick with eight.

Why not bump it straight to ten? How much does it really cost to go straight to ten if according to that release it costs only $114k for 2 additional baseball berths, 2 to 4 additional golf berths, the one women's hockey berth, two men's lacrosse berths and two women's lacrosse berths?

Not enough teams to meet the access ratio for 10. The access ratio is one team for every 6.5. There would have to be 65 D-III women's teams next year in order to do that. There are 59 this year with a couple more set to come online next year, but not enough to get to the 65. I think 10 is still a few more years down the road.

Not to be blunt...but it doesn't matter what you're in favor of. :). I'd prefer a 16 team bracket on the men's side and a 12 team bracket on the women's side but it will never happen unless the NCAA makes DRASTIC changes to its postseason protocol.

I think they should make changes to the protocol. They make billions off of the bowls and the basketball tournament and they should spread that around better.
