2017 NCAA tournament selection thread

Re: 2017 NCAA tournament selection thread

I'll try my hand at rankings

East
1. Norwich
2. Oswego
3. Hobart
4. Endicott
5. Geneseo
6. Buff state
7. Utica
8. Hamilton
9. Babson
10. Williams

West

1. SNC
2. UW-SP
3. UW-EC
4. Adrian
5. Augsburg

Still a few games left to play

Please. I thought you'd be more of a fan of Gary Puckett and the Union Gap.

And here I thought you'd continue the lyrical play, though I concede that line in Incense and Peppermints is easy to miss. In fact, I've missed it...over and over. But yeah, I'm not such a sweet thing.

Gary Puckett is dreadful. Over and over.

Do you know how long it has been since I listened to Incense and Peppermints? I, along with Prof, heard it when it was first released, while you young whippersnappers have to go to YouTube or some 60s Oldies Station. :)

Somewhere in my house I have a Gary Puckett album. So Shoot me!

Let's get this thread back on topic.

Here's matchups I'm keeping an eye on this weekend:

Babson @ NEC
Augsburg vs. St. Thomas (home and home)
Adrian @ Concordia Wis. (2)
Colby @ Trinity
Endicott @ Curry
Neumann @ Hobart
Buff State @ Geneseo
Stevens Point @ Eau Claire

This one is big for SNC...they need at least a point out of Concordia to get back into first place in the NCHA.

I'll throw in Colby @ Wesleyan. The top 6 in the NESCAC are an interesting group.

Being originally from the State of Washington, I even know where Union Gap is located. (Near Yakima, WA - where Gary grew up)

At least we won't hear Prez sing "Do you want to know a secret?"

VPN + Sirius/XM online. If you can name my top six channels I'll give you a grand :)

And there will be no shooting here. It's not like you tried to claim Winchester Cathedral was actually a good song or something. That...would have been a grave transgression.

I think Winchester Cathedral is far superior to MacArthur Park. But back to selection discussion, please

I think we're marking time until Ranking #1 is released. Then people will be grabbing their KRACHs in disbelief.

No chance that the secret rankings will be leaked? Can the Russians help us on this?

What I have never understood about this is the recursive nature of Record vs. Ranked teams. When one team moves into the rankings and one team moves out, that metric changes, and perhaps the teams that just got kicked out will be able to move back in because of a better record against the newly ranked teams, then you recalculate, and so it goes. The only thing that actually would make sense is the old once ranked, always ranked approach. Then the rankings would be stable. The other approach that would be logical would be record against teams in the previous ranking. Record against currently ranked teams is mathematically problematical. It is possible that the ratings would converge if iterated several times, but it is also possible that it would end up in an infinite cycle. Why set this possibility up? The system is not well defined.
