Giancarlo Stanton has cleared waivers. Let the bidding begin!!!!
So who will set off home run thingy now?
Aaron Judge just hit a ball into the upper half of the third deck at Citi Field. Possibly the longest HR ever hit at the park.
He looked bored doing it.
Jekyll and Hyde. Does that while setting the position player record with a 33 game strike out streak. If he does it two more games he'll have the all time record.
John Lackey stole 2nd base on a straight steal.
Which soon to be ex-catcher?
Pitcher fell asleep.
Like, literally?![]()
THOU SHALT NOT MESS WITH THE HOME RUN THINGY!
people, it's awesome. it's horrible and ugly and campy and PERFECT.
If you can't have a gaudy, brightly colored, flamingo-and-marlin-laden sculpture in Miami, WHERE CAN YOU HAVE IT?
just when you think it can't get any more kitschy... THE BIG MARLIN ON TOP SPINS AROUND! it's the BEST.
I am honestly not being sarcastic. I love that thing. I acknowledge it is unforgivably ugly and every horrible adjective you can throw at it. It was even better seeing it in person.
p.s. no one should be surprised Derek Jeter has no appreciation of whimsy. He's probably going to pour bleach in the aquariums when no one's looking.
p.p.s. We had this conversation before the park opened, and unsurprisingly, Kepler, aparch and I were on the same sides we are now. My only change is I like it even MORE.![]()

The home run thingy can't be moved.
Heard that on the news last night and almost fell out of my chair.John double-U Henry getting in on the renaming/removing statues "good side" now![]()
My liberal a ss is a bit uncomfortable with this for a few reasons. First is Yawkey doesn't have anybody to defend him as his wife is dead and he has no descendants who might go to bat for him. That makes him an easy mark. Next while I do understand the Sox of the 50's didn't have any black players on the team, what I'd like to know is if Yawkey changed his views later in life as the Sox teams of the late 60's-70's featured players like Reggie Smith, George Scott, Luis Tiant, and Jim Rice. I'm curious what they all thought of him. Finally the name includes his wife who was owner for about 15 years after his death. Does she get scrubbed too?
the foundation has given a ton of money all around the city too (including shiny buildings at bu and bc as well).
