2017-18 Schedules Thread

Re: 2017-18 Schedules Thread

There are long answers, and most of them make no sense. I believe St. Cloud had a choice to also be Minnesota State-St. Cloud (We're under the same board of regents, but the U and UMD are under a different one), but they had the foresight to realize that people would screw up the name for at least the next 20 years!

Fair enough.

At least in hopefully a week or so, the administrator will cry no longer, as the list will switch to those that are incomplete. ;)

About 15-20 years ago, there was a big push by the MnSCU (the non-U of Mn school in Minnesota, the State Colleges and Universities) to have all the campuses become Minnesota States. They claimed it would make them more recognizable to people outside of Minnesota and the Upper Midwest. But they did leave it up to the individual campuses to make the decision and some did and some didn't. I believe Mankato changed before this push was made, but Moorhead went in during the push. Bemidji was close, but got A LOT of blowback from alumni and stayed Bemidji State University.

FWIW, there was a push around the time the BSU went D-I to try and become Northern Minnesota University or University of Northern Minnesota (I can't recall which way the wording was). That was shot down by alumni and also MnSCU.

To me, it will always be known, and referenced, as Mankato State!!! :p

Re: 2017-18 Schedules Thread

Having had communications with them and having also received their NCAA Financial information, I can state that the official name used by the school is Minnesota State University, Mankato. How you want to identify them is up to you. :)

Since they changed their name I always get a laugh when I see an episode of Coach.

...and now I have Colin Mochrie's impersonation of Craig T. Nelson stuck in my head. Thanks a lot.:p

I'm now glad I didn't mention Bemidji in my question...

I mean, he isn't technically wrong.

They're just all conference/Beanpot games.

(Yeah. It's... bad.)

Re: 2017-18 Schedules Thread

Most of the home/away splits for HEA are situated. If I had to guess, UVM would get UCONN at home for two, and UNH would get UVM at home for two. I just don't see either UVM or UCONN having all four of the extra games be at home.

This probably means RPI and Maine will play during the New Years weekend, and we should finally see announcements from the two schools.

Re: 2017-18 Schedules Thread

From the UNH thread:

We got a letter dated 6/9. And the first thing i said was, not an online notification? Prices are the same. Lots about their not so special STH benefits. They have added access to the Skybox Lounge starting 1 hour before the game on a first come basis. Complementary snacks and ability to purchase alcohol.

Schedule has 19 (counting x game)
No SNHU game!
3 games with Maine , NE, UVM and Lowell.
OC games and weekdays:
Wednesday 12/6 at RPI
Sunday 12/10 MC at home
Monday 1/15 at BC
Wednesday 2/14 Maine at home.
Colgate 10/13-14 at home
CC on 10/20-21 at home
At Yale 11/26
Army on 12/9 at home
Dartmouth Tourney on 12/29-30
1/6 Brown at home

17 game before the Christmas break and 17 after.
