2016 Open Wheel Racing- this Haas to be a great Roissing year.

I can't imagine this is going to make AJ Foyt happy even if the honesty from Hawksworth is refreshing. This makes me a bit concerned for Daly and Munoz though.

Ouch, for Munoz and Daly...Foyt needs to hire a guy like Derrick Walker to manage the team and A.J. Should infuse some of his own cash into the team as well. It could be a career killing move for both of these guys otherwise.

AJ Foyt's team has always been a terrible team even going back to when he was still driving for his own team.

I remember back at the first Meadowlands, NJ race, their trailer shows up late. Seriously. Everybody is already parked, unloaded, prepped and on the track for the first practice session when Foyt's trailer rolls in. Needless to say, he did horrible that weekend. Looked like a ranked amateur. He runs that team like it's the 1960s...

Re: 2016 Open Wheel Racing- this Haas to be a great Roissing year.

So what about Hamilton backing the field up so Rosberg could get passed? I like the move, what else was he supposed to do? I don't think Merc should have told Hamilton to speed up. They had the constructors locked, so let the lads duke it out. I also think instead of crying about it Rosberg should have passed Hamilton. I'd bet had Rosberg tried to pass Hamilton he would have Schumied/Sennaed him, what fantastic television that would have been. I don't like how wah-babied Hamilton was after the race, very ungracious. He also hinted at the back story of the crew swap, I'm dying to hear that one. Sure looks like Hamilton isn't endearing himself to the team.

Seems to me Hamilton has the right to be angry with his team. They let him down a few times this season.

Considering the "grace" that Nico bestowed onto Lewis for his past victories- well... I also don't see that as a big deal.

I have no problem with what Hamilton did, and I was rooting for Rosberg. And I also don't understand Mercedes' thinking in getting involved with team orders. The race win meant nothing to the constructors' viewpoint. Let them race. The only thing I can think of was if the drivers wound up taking each other out, how bad that publicity would have been for Mercedes.

No way Rosberg could pass Hamilton. Hamilton went fast in the passing sections and slow in the impossible to pass sections. It was obvious watching it, and Rosberg confirmed that afterwards. Rosberg even compliment Hamilton on how well he pulled that off.

It does surprise me with all that Hamilton has done to p*ss off his team, that they resigned him anyway. Mercedes could easily have gotten a top notch driver instead. Maybe not quite as good as Hamilton, but still right up there in talent level and with their car, still capable of winning championships. Yet, they continue to be willing to put up with Hamilton's antics.

Re: 2016 Open Wheel Racing- this Haas to be a great Roissing year.

Shocker! So whose gonna get the seat? Every driver in the series would want that seat, though Lewis may be a hard teammate to work with.

Re: 2016 Open Wheel Racing- this Haas to be a great Roissing year.

Verstappen?? Can he be gotten from Red Bull?

I was thinking Bottas, don't know his contract situation either. I can see Alonso trying to get away from the dumpster fire he's in. If I was Merc, I'd want Alonso.

Wow that is crazy. How can a 4-time Indy500 champ put out a half-azzed team like this?

I'm not sure about Alonso. First of all, he knows that there's basically a rest for next season- so perhaps the glimpses of hope from McLaren will come to fruition. And for Mercedes- for the most part, Alonso is in the same spot as Schumacher was- and they solidly have an experienced driver in Hamilton.

Bottas would be a better choice, but someone younger would be even better for Mercedes- where Hamilton can help him and/or he can be naïve enough to stand up to Lewis.

OR, we can all dream, and hope for Rossi... :)

You have a better chance seeing Babe Ruth come back from the dead and hit 60 home runs for the Yankees in 2017 then you do seeing Max Verstappen in a Mercedes in 2017. No way Red Bull ever lets him out of his contract.

Alonso is the only top flight driver I can see being able to get out of his contract. I'm sure he signed with McLaren with plenty of escape clauses.

Vettel is probably in between the above two, but I can't see Ferrari letting him out. And if they wanted to, who would Ferrari get to replace Vettel who can raise that team up? It would make no sense for Ferrari to let Vertel leave.

My guess is Carlos Sainz. He held up quite well against Max. He's young, but has the experience and speed to take on the challenge. And where is he going to go after 2017? Toro Rosso can't keep him. The purpose of their team is to develop Red Bull drivers, not provide a career spot for them. And there's no spot on Red Bull. The only reason Red Bull may not allow him to leave is because Ricciardo's contract runs out next year, and in case they don't sign him, they can promote Sainz.

Well, it certainly won't be a boring offseason now. LOL

There's a reason why Foyt's career fizzled out so dramatically while Mario's remained competitive up to his retirement.

Foyt insisted on running his own team. And quite frankly, he sucked at it. He, or anyone on that team, never won in CART. It wasn't till he got to a diluted IRL field did they win, and then only barely. Once the CART teams started going to the IRL, his team was back to mid pack.

Meanwhile, Mario finished up his career with a top flight team as a hired gun only. And was always competitive even if he didn't win near the end.

agreed.

I think Foyt would be smart to hire Derrick Walker or maybe talk with Gerry Forsythe about managing the team. He's got a great sponsor and it would be a shame to see ABC Supply leave the series because Foyt can't provide value for them.

Re: Rosberg, I'm utterly stunned. I can't recall a similar situation in F1.

Re: 2016 Open Wheel Racing- this Haas to be a great Roissing year.

A Spanish media source is reporting that Mercedes and Alonso's management are discussing "negotiating terms."

Meanwhile, Zak Brown says (in desperation?) that Alonso is happy with McLaren and isn't looking to leave...

According to Toto Wolff, every driver on the grid except Kimi and Kvyat has called him. So much for Vettel's insistence he's not looking to leave Ferrari... (And can you imagine Mercedes seriously considering Marcus Ericsson? LOL)

Oh, and Massa said he would be willing to delay his retirement for a year for the opportunity to drive a Mercedes...

So... I just booked a hotel in Indianapolis for May! Was waiting on flights but they are kind of expensive so.... we're going to drive the 14 hrs out to Indiana and back. This will allow us to splurge in Pocono once again as well. Now I need to get some tickets - they just went on sale this past few days. :)
