2016 Minnesota Twins -- How Low Can they Go?

Re: 2016 Minnesota Twins -- How Low Can they Go?

Dozier is on a sick roll. Needs to be traded this off season for some pitching. Do it while his stock is high. Roll with Polanco next year at second.
Isn't constantly trading away the good talent on the team the way that bad teams stay bad? Granted, pitching has been rough all season long, but the lineup hasn't been lighting up the base paths on offense either.

I agree. Hang onto him, especially since until Sano figures it out and Buxton gets more consistent there isn't a lot of power in that lineup.

In other news, pretty decent chance the Twins are the first team eliminated from post-season opportunities. Today.

If this team never gets pitching it will always stink. They keep Dozier and the pitching doesn't improve then you are wasting him on this team. Also Dozier is obviously on a ridiculous streak while there is no pressure on him because this team has been out of the playoffs since June. Remember last year at this time when the Twins were still in it he stunk it up. Trade him for pitching this off season.

Trade him for what pitching?
You honestly expect the Pohlad's to work to make the team better? I sure don't.
Until they actually shell out money for players who don't suck regardless of position, the Twins will be bad.
They also need to get back to drafting better as most 0f their picks are looking average at best lately plus the core of the team in pitching and defense has been largely woeful.
We'll see who gets the GM job but if they don't go outside the organization for it, nothing will change and trading Dozier will make no difference.

I fully understand. It's just my 2 cents on what to do with Dozier. Nothing more, nothing less. And they haven't drafted well in the last 10-15 years. Organization needs a total house cleaning from the bottom up. Will that happen? 99.9% no.

The problem with your analysis of the Dozier situation is that every other team out there knows what he's like, too. The other teams' managers all know how he was playing last year, and what he's doing now. He wouldn't be really good trade bait until he could repeat this performance for a second year. Right now GMs are looking at him as being on a hot streak, a player who's comfortable in his situation and playing well because of it. If you take him to another lineup, it could very well upend his comfort and cause his bat to go cold. If he can repeat for another season, then it's not a simple streak. He'll be a targeted player for the whole season and have the pressure of a star player on his shoulders. The Twins just wouldn't get much for him until then, and I still don't think they should make the trade because they really need to grow the lineup and have him as a base for the future.

But you are assuming he doesn't stink for the first half next season. I like Dozier. But he has been a streaky hitter. It's nuts what he's doing now. Fun to witness because obviously the team is almost unwatchable. They keep him I will be fine but I just think it's time this off season to shop him for pitching.

Re: 2016 Minnesota Twins -- How Low Can they Go?

We shop for pitching every offseason. Problem is, we shop at Kmart for them. The Twins are just poor at pitching talent evaluation in free agents and trades.

Re: 2016 Minnesota Twins -- How Low Can they Go?

That's why Dozier is an interesting trade possibility. Everyone knows the the Twins' previous failures in such matters so while is obvious reason to be skeptical it's not an impossibility.

Re: 2016 Minnesota Twins -- How Low Can they Go?

Twins still need 9 wins to avoid 100 losses in 2016 (that is now more than half of the remaining games). 12 losses in the final 17 games would set a new record for losses by the Minnesota Twins.

Re: 2016 Minnesota Twins -- How Low Can they Go?

Twins get thumped 10-1 tonight by the Mariners and are now 1 loss away from 100. Would not shock me if they don't win another one this season. Pathetic excuse for a major league team.

Re: 2016 Minnesota Twins -- How Low Can they Go?

Funny how this is probably going to be the worst Twins team in history with Dozier hitting more homers than any other Twin not named Killebrew (and more than any other AL second baseman too). That shows you how bad they are.
