2016 Atlantic Hurricane Season: Non-Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Re: 2016 Atlantic Hurricane Season: Non-Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Where I am outside Tampa, we got spared. Really couldn't have differentiated between this and any regular summer storm, heck, a summer storm probably would have been worse. Don't believe we had winds above 30-35mph, just some steady rain.

A good friends grandparents stayed put in Ft Pierce, and have reported that they made it out fine. Dang stubborn folks, but glad they didn't get in trouble.

Buddy in Ft Lauderdale just said they barely got any rain, and maybe gusts to 50.

Hope you find favorable outcomes for your area, LynahFan.

Dear as yet unborn* grandchildren,

I would just like to extend an apology on behalf of everyone over 40** for creating the hellscape you live in. We're all very sorry.

If it is any consolation, we had a blast!

Sincerely,

Your as yet undead grandfather

P.S. No, as a matter of fact we wouldn't blame you if you dug up our bones and urinated on them before using them in a Satanic ritual to wish our souls to suffer in eternal torment. It's what I'd do if I were in your place.

* Hint, hint, daughter :mad:

** Further apologies on behalf of people currently under 40 will be forthcoming as I doubt they'll do anything about it either

All good here in Orlando - never lost power, no scary wind, no rain flooding. Power is out at our house, for sure, and we won't make it back home to assess the damage until tomorrow.

Re: 2016 Atlantic Hurricane Season: Non-Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Why would someone bring a beautiful new life into a hellscape. That would be insanity. So your daughter is insane? No, not yet.

Because everything is relative. Children born in 100 years will live their whole lives where that's just the weather. That might be a hellscape, or we might have engineered our way out of it, but it'll all be the same to them.

Because then we cease to exist and/or replaced by a breeding population.

Call me selfish.

If the main reason you had kids was to pass on your genes, I'd say that while not selfish that is spectacularly vain. :p

And in any case, only Mom ever knows for sure... ;)

Future grandpa is a wee bit dramatic

People keep saying that, but we've had some pretty quiet hurricane seasons these past few years, when things were supposed to start moving towards bocoming stupendously violent due to climate change. I really don't think the scientists truly know what to expect with the warmer weather.

At least Nicole is projected to pretty much track North. Weird to see two hurricanes so close together, though.

North Carolina is getting ALL the rain right now.

The ND game in Raleigh was delayed for weather. If you're a fan of football in terrible conditions (the best football there is), go to ABC.
