Tampa hasn't had a direct hit in 90 some odd years. I thank the MacDill Hurricane Resistance System for its service to the area.
Hope it stays far enough off the coast for you Atlantic coasters though. Got some friends in the Ft. Laud/Hollywood area too that are keeping an eye on this monster.

Is that just luck of the draw or are there dynamics that cause storms to hug the coast (e.g., pressure differentials generated by the different capacity of land and sea to absorb heat)?
