2016-2017 Division I Commitments

Still, it's not like BU recruits are going to be any more tight-lipped about committing than other recruits.

Unless they're just embarrassed to admit to committing to such a third rate school; that could be it. That's probably it.

It's amazing third rate schools win multiple HE championships. Maybe they just do not care about the uscho forum.

Re: 2016-2017 Division I Commitments

SO SORRY HUX! yes that is what I meant.... Thanks 96Ildad for the correction..

Lol, I couldn't compile the list without the rigorous efforts of folks like '96 and other "commitment scouts."

Re: 2016-2017 Division I Commitments

Hahah guess what I meant was whether she'd be considered a blue chip recruit.

Ok, new to all this, Blue Chip? that must be a subjective term, and a select few that I would assume are already be comitted by now. so no? i think? What determines a Blue Chip recruit? who they play for, what type of scholorship they are getting, how goals they scored?

Stirring the pot? Care to expound on who how where what you really heard? Why would or wouldn't Clarkson be any different than any other?

giwan no I am sorry I'm not a pot siring type of person. really just trying to get some insight on a few (2) peoples opinions that I am not totally sure I trust... I am sorry if you think I am stirring, I respect what Clarkson had done, they are putting a lot into their facilities and the program seems to be moving in the right direction. I know someone being recruited by them and just want to find out, yes she is an American born player...

Other than backup goaltenders, it's been a long time since they had American players. If you're a backup goalie who never plays, you may feel on the outside no matter what anyone's nationality is. Rattray and Howe are the only Clarkson players I've talked to, and both of them hand great personalities and I wouldn't expect they'd be cliquish.

OH personally I don't care stir the **** thing. Sometimes the pots need to be more than stirred. Fire away

And goaltenders in general are on the outside. I mean come on you gotta be a little off to want someone to shoot hard disks at you.

I graduated from Clarkson a few years ago. The majority of the players are from Canada, maybe 2-3 from the US at any given time. They tend to recruit more in Canada because it's closer. Most of the better US players are either from out West and like to stay there or from the Boston area and like to stay there.

I was friends with Lauren Dahm, who graduated the same year I did. She was one of the Top Goalies in the country and from right here in Upstate NY. But talking with her mom. The only reason Clarkson looked at her was because her school won the State Championship. I know other girls from the US had to fight pretty hard to get on the Team.

I don't think it's really that they don't recruit in the US, more that it's more convenient, seeing as how Clarkson is basically in Canada. I know one of this year's freshman is from Illinois though. And now that they added an American coach to the staff, things could change.

P.S. If she has any questions about the school itself, I would be happy to answer. Headed up there this weekend for the banner raising, in fact.

They only choose CA girls because they are close to CA? I mean really.

If that was the case wouldn't they have all CA girls on the lacrosse team as lacrosse is CA National sport since 1850 something.

More along the lines of CA players choose them because of location. Their parents can actually attend games. Only a couple hours from Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal. Don't get me wrong, I loved it up in Potsdam. But it's in the middle of nowhere, the closest major cities are in Canada. I don't know what other politics may be behind it. Just the little bit I heard from Lauren and her Mom.

Probably not because all their other teams are DIII....

I think Clarkson hockey recruits the best Canadians and the best Americans. Their old Asst Coach was an American (now the head of USA hockey recruiting). Their new assistant was Team USA's captain.

I think the real issue is that Canadian girls like the location of Clarkson far more than US girls. Because of the high demand from Canadians, Clarkson is able to secure a large amount of elite Canadian girls (check out their recruiting the last few years). Elite US girls seem to choose BC, UM, UW, Ivy etc. If Clarkson could get an elite US kid interested in committing, I'm sure they'd take them. But, if they continue to get a significantly high number of Elite Canadian girls going there, there is no reason to recruit less talented US girls who is interested just to get an American.

[Yes, agree with previous post - same point I am making].

Thank you all for your input, but I am less concerned with why they recruit Canadians over Americans, as they are recruiting this american girls from a well known prep school... Maybe they are trying to start to get some more from that school in the future... who knows... just want to give some solid information to this recruit and it sounds like I need to talk first hand with some former and current players... thank you all again ....
