2016-2017 Division I Commitments

Re: 2016-2017 Division I Commitments

Thank you all for your input, but I am less concerned with why they recruit Canadians over Americans, as they are recruiting this american girls from a well known prep school... Maybe they are trying to start to get some more from that school in the future... who knows... just want to give some solid information to this recruit and it sounds like I need to talk first hand with some former and current players... thank you all again ....

They recruit US players. The Canadians historically commit more - re-read my previous post for why I think why it is.

Bhyikukhu I would love to get her in touch with some former players and such... how can I make this happen?

I am friends with quite a few of the graduated players on Facebook. Last year's senior class was the last of the players that I knew. So I can't get her in contact with current players, but I'm sure the alum could. I could see if could get some email addresses for her if she wants.

Recruiting is, in no small part, very much about contacts and leads. A change in personnel can dramatically change the way a program recruits, either from the program itself (a new member of the staff), or from a well regarded contact (moved to a new area/position) and how they "find" talent.

Re: 2016-2017 Division I Commitments

Probably not because all their other teams are DIII....

I think Clarkson hockey recruits the best Canadians and the best Americans. Their old Asst Coach was an American (now the head of USA hockey recruiting). Their new assistant was Team USA's captain.

I think the real issue is that Canadian girls like the location of Clarkson far more than US girls. Because of the high demand from Canadians, Clarkson is able to secure a large amount of elite Canadian girls (check out their recruiting the last few years). Elite US girls seem to choose BC, UM, UW, Ivy etc. If Clarkson could get an elite US kid interested in committing, I'm sure they'd take them. But, if they continue to get a significantly high number of Elite Canadian girls going there, there is no reason to recruit less talented US girls who is interested just to get an American.

[Yes, agree with previous post - same point I am making].

Hey, St. Lawrence is 10 miles from Clarkson and half of their roster is Americans. Simple fact is that Clarkson doesn't actively recruit Americans (in prior years) and St Lawrence does. It isn't the location, it's the recruiting focus. I know of two American girls in the last two years that were multi-year NDC players interested in business/engineering who were interested in Clarkson and they couldn't get a response at any point - both playing at top 10 D1 schools now. Clarkson just wasn't following the US girls. Not a complaint, just an observation - it obviously worked for them!

Finally some sense.

I haven't heard a name yet, but an article on Duggan said that the Knights have already gotten a commitment from a "Top US recruit" for next year. So, I'm not sure if this is a change or an indictment on your observation.

So is Keller at BSM or Tonka this year? I've seen both listed in different places. Elite league roster shows her as BSM.
