2015 World is upon us.

Re: 2015 World is upon us.

Late game update...

2nd Intermission, Finland 2, Russia 2 - Russia has taken 1-0 and 2-1 leads, and Finland has answered back fairly quickly (exactly a minute later the first time, 3:04 later the second time). Russia's Olga Sosina has a goal and an assist. SOG are 15-10 Finland.

Now in overtime, still 2-2. Each team had a power play in the third period, but neither team scored and SOG in the frame were 3-3 (Finland leads for the game, 18-13).

Five minute OT and then the shootout. Regardless, Canada will be fourth in Pool A as both Finland and Russia will get a point for being tied after regulation.

EDIT: Going to the "game-winning shots" (a.k.a. the shootout). SOG in OT were 2-2.

Re: 2015 World is upon us.

Anyone know if a penalty can be called for shooting on net long after the whistle has blown?
Yes, ref can call an unsportsmanlike 2 minute penalty, similar to when someone sprays the goaler. Usually a warning precedes a penalty. It was Rougeau who took exception and bumped her into the boards. Given that the whistle could be clearly heard and there was little crowd noise, it sure looked to be intentional. The whistle was for an offside.

Agree that the Canada PP was anemic. I did like the play of the Spooner/Wakefield/Jenner Line. Spoons was the best canuck player IMHO.

Final: Finland 3, Russia 2 - Minttu Tuominen scores in the fourth round of the shootout, her second attempt, to give Finland a 3-2 victory. Meeri Raisanen made 3 saves (and Russia missed wide on one attempt) in the shootout.

And we do not want anyone with that kind of attitude north of the 49th. Please stay were you are.

Don't be so short sighted. He doesn't know what he's talking about. If C-51 passes he'd feel right at home here...his geographic range will have just increased tremendously.

But that wouldn't rule out his moving to the GTA so he could hang with you. :D Would still be WAY south of the 49th.

Re: 2015 World is upon us.

I would think that the "Unsportsmanlike conduct" penalty would cover all such sins.

In the CIS final, a McGill player received a penalty for shooting on the Western net after the whistle signalling the end of the second period. Unsportsmanlike conduct I think.

Thanks for mentioning this.

I had posted about this in the CIS thread but totally forgot about it today. I thought she had gotten away with it at the time because she walked off the ice with her team with no signal from the ref. But to the ref's credit McGill started the third period with her in the penalty box. Exactly what McGill and she deserved.

Re: 2015 World is upon us.

That sounds like a normal day in the women's WCHA.

The not getting called part happens way too often but the head whacking part is rare, only seen it from OSU and UND, UMD could get ugly when they were losing though the last couple of years they seem to have lacked even that. I found it highly irritating that Langly called to majors in her two games at the NCAA, one against a play not even on the ice. She went a whole season apparently unable to find a bean in her whistle then that.

There's no reason at all...ever...to want to live in Canada
Funny, I can think of several. Of course I live in one of her Southern Provinces, Minnesota. Right now the first reason that comes to mind is Americans.

I live far north of the GTA. He/she might very well be welcome in the Americanized colony called Tarantah. :D
