2015 Open Wheel Racing - The Devil comes to Ferrari & the return Wayward Driver!!!

I would really like to see the engine costs in F1 come down as per the latest bernie proposal.

Re: 2015 Open Wheel Racing - The Devil comes to Ferrari & the return Wayward Driver!!

Going to ruffle some feathers perhaps but... F1 bores the crap out of me. I don't get it.

I know I'm going slightly off-topic and embracing my inner hillbilly but yesterday's NASCAR/WWE event with Joey Logano getting intentionally wrecked was hilarious. Especially seeing all those hillbillies going CRAZY when it happened.

I am enthralled by most racing period. The chase to catch someone, then trying to pass them, and the changing conditions of fuel load and tyre wear, it's awesome. I've watched buses race on an oval on SPIKE. I like racing period.

Kenseth was 1000000% bush for wiping out Logano. I don't think Dale Sr. ever did anything that outrageous and he was the dirtiest driver I have ever watched. Logano is a victim of the stupid chase system. He wins 3 races in a row, gets wiped out, then he's 8th out of 8th in points. What a stupid stupid system.

It's sad Milwaukee is dead, but the bottom line is Indycar fans in the Milwaukee Metro area just don't care enough to show up. I had been wanting to go and take my boys, but it I just never made it a priority vs what else was going on in our lives and now it's gone. I let it slip away. Elkhart Lake qualifying is the day we get back from fishing up north, do I give up a day early on fishing to take the boys there? I'd love for them to get into the pits and get close to the cars, hear the crew talking, smell the smells, hear the noise and see the awesome colors in person. Maybe the next year the race won't conflict with our trip, so do I wait?

Did you ever watch Figure-8 "train" racing? Seriously.

It's three cars tied to each other bumper to bumper. The first car has the driver and gas pedal. The middle car is empty. The third car has the co-driver with the brake pedal. Seriously.

It's hysterical watching the brake guy try to slow the train down thinking they shouldn't go through the intersection while the gas pedal guy is trying to pull the train through as quickly as possible. Seriously.

They showed highlights of it once on one of those original racing news shows on TBS. Seriously.

Grand Prix of Boston CEO Mark Perrone: “We Are Asking For Zero Taxpayer Dollars”

By AMANDA MCGOWAN

Grand Prix of Boston has reworked its contract with the city so that no taxpayer dollars will be used for its IndyCar racing events in South Boston, CEO Mark Perrone told WGBH News.

“We are asking for zero taxpayer dollars,” Perrone said. “We’ve gone and reworked the city license with the mayor and the administration. We are picking up all of the municipal costs so there will be no taxpayer dollars.”

Grand Prix Boston’s original contract held the city responsible for making improvements or alterations to roads used by the race. Perrone says the company will now shoulder those costs, as well as any costs for security. The new contract indemnifies the city and state from all liability in case spectators are injured during an event.

------------------------

No way any promoter or the race series itself can afford to cover these costs. No way.

This race is dead.

I see Tag Heuer is leaving Mclaren and going to Red Bull after 30 years. Shocking!

I don't understand what Ron Dennis is doing with McLaren. I'm talking the business side, not the technical side, which is a whole other set of questions.

There's a lot more activity on social media lately with them and clearly this race is going to happen this year. Beyond that I have doubts.

Curious to see what the ticket prices will be.

Today's new story, they just paid off the lowlifes that live near the race circuit to be able to relocate for that weekend in exchange for them shutting up.

It does seem the tide has quickly turned in favor of the race.

But I don't see how this business model is going to work much past the lifespan of the Baltimore GP.

I must find this on youtube.

I am SO detached from F1 right now with hockey in full swing and the Holiday season also here. I suppose if the title fight was still alive I'd make more of an effort to keep up with it, but I think F1 in November and even October is dumb. They need to go more condensed in the schedule. They could do more back to backs when they are on a continent.

I have my doubts as well but the Boston Indy folks were chirping the living hell out of the disgruntled residents on twitter over the past few days who keep referencing Baltimore. According to them, they have a ton of sponsors to help bring in the cashflow to keep this event going, unlike Baltimore. At least that is their story. It's been a very interesting turn of events over the past two weeks from an activity standpoint. Mayor sends them a letter, idiot Boston Herald writer comes up with that being an "ultimatum" (it wasn't and the fake deadline wasn't met anyway... ha), to all of this social media activity as they seem to be getting things closer to finalized.

I love the "train" led by the hearst.

See if you can spot the cheating move midway through the first race.

There are a lot of videos on this topic. Just search on "Figure 8 train racing".

I'm not watching that if it ever comes about. It's about the driver/team combo.

Last race, kinda snoozy, liked Vettel's alternate strategy. I wonder what would have happened had he qualified 3rd and tried that. I think he would have made Mercedes feel rather uncomfortable.

New agreement on providing engines for everyone and I think Red Bull is really happy.

Apparently it's going to happen in the first race at Melbourne.

Insane.

First of all, the system used the past few years has been great. More exciting than the race sometimes. So, they didn't need to change it.

The only reason I see for the change is that it will shake up the field more and thus provide a more exciting race. And that's why they want to do it. But it's going to be complicated as heck and no one -- fans, drivers, teams, announcers -- are going to have a clue in being able to keep up with it.

So Joe, how come you haven't graced us with a title for a new 2016 thread?

How about -- Will Red Catch Silver, Will The Other Red Be All Bull, and the 100th Running.

Adjust as necessary.
