2015 Open Wheel Racing - The Devil comes to Ferrari & the return Wayward Driver!!!

Re: 2015 Open Wheel Racing - The Devil comes to Ferrari & the return Wayward Driver!!

Re: 2015 Open Wheel Racing - The Devil comes to Ferrari & the return Wayward Driver!!

Sochi has come and gone.

Not much of a race in the front- but once again, the racing in the back was pretty amazing. Botas and Raikonnen passing Perez on the last lap then having Kimi take out Valteri. Perez for third. Kimi's 5th is in question.

Kimi drops to 8th after a 30-second penalty. And he still insists he is not at all to blame. Oooookaaaaay.....

Thus, that gives Mercedes the Constructors' Title. Well, it was a foregone conclusion after the first race of the season, but now it's official....

So, how psyched does everyone think Rossi is for the upcoming USGP? Ditto for Perez for the Mexican GP a week later.

I don't understand any of this F1 crap but I see that it is all but announced that Pocono will return next season for Indycar and that makes me very happy. Will probably go out there again and then come back for the Boston Grand Prix two weeks later.

If Boston happens...

There is some movement amongst the residents to stop this event, similar to the movement that stopped the Olympic bid.

I know... but... it's happening and this is nowhere near the scope of the Olympics. It's almost to the point of no turning back now. The mayor is behind it 100%. It's going to bring a boatload of money into the city.

For a city of education, there sure are a lot if nitwits here. One lady is whining that it is the weekend that students move in and it will cause gridlock in the area. She must not realize there are no colleges in the Seaport District. I actually went down there after running my half marathon 8 days ago and got a look at part of the course. They really do need to do a lot of work to some areas on the road - the big contention is who will pay for fixing up those areas to make them ready for the race - one estimate put it a $500K. They'll figure it out.

On Friday they sent out emails to folks that signed up to volunteer for the event. I'm going to get my application in tonight.

Seaport district? Do you have a link to the proposed race? Might be an interesting weekend to visit family.

Another great article in the Herald today about more roadblocks to the race. I don't know... I guess it is possible that they blow this and pull the event off the schedule (should be out soon?) like they did with the Brazil race this past year.

Re: 2015 Open Wheel Racing - The Devil comes to Ferrari & the return Wayward Driver!!

Terrible weather in Austin this weekend- rain, rain, and more rain. So far, qualifying has been delayed 2 hours, but I'm not sure why they keep trying- the weather map show hours and hours of more rain.

Theoretically, qualifying will be done tomorrow morning. But it may come down to P3 times, also in terrible weather. We'll see.

BTW, if Hamilton wins, and Vettel finishes 3rd or farther back- he's champ.

Great race. So many passes, so much change in conditions, and Hamilton secures the championship.

I had a chance to visit the former F1 circuit at Jerez de La Frontera last week. Really top notch place. visit the web site if you get a chance.

Sebastian Vettel gave a reporter from Autoweek a ride in an F 12 during this weeks race prep, but it was real rainy and hard to go quite so fast. Still pretty impressive.

I only follow F1 very casually, but I am happy that Hamilton has won the past couple seasons. From what I've read here and there, it seems that many people think he is the most talented driver currently on the grid (either him or Alonso), and from the interviews I've seen with him on Top Gear, Seat Swap etc... it seems like he truly loves racing and has a great appreciation for its history and all of its variations.

Last time I checked, if you close the cockpit, the wheels are still open.

I thought even a Clarkson grad could figure that out...

Classic brain fart. Open cockpit <> open wheel.

Any thoughts on the schedule Indycar released yesterday? No surprises, but it seems they took great care in timing their events for television spots.

I got renewal opportunity through Pocono Raceway, really great opportunity. They are offering 20% off if you renew before Dec 1st and you can choose a 4 payment plan option with only 25% down until 2016. Hopefully I can upgrade our seats. Really looking forward to going back there to be honest, we had such a wildly good time it is really tough to describe.

glad you're renewing Pocono! I hope it's another great race only with better attendance. It's a great historic track for Indycar.

I'm very very very disappointed they lost Milwaukee...Bitterly disappointed in fact. That track is more historic to open wheel racing than Monaco for F1 or INDY.

Open wheelers began racing in Milwaukee in 1903...it's a sad sad day and I fear Milwaukee will get bulldozed by 2020 and that will just break my heart.

I've been to the Indycar races in Milwaukee with my Dad every year from 1979 forward and witnessed some incredible drivers and battles: Mansell, Zanardi, Fabi, Mario, Michael, John, Jeff and Marco Andretti, A.J. Foyt, Danny Ongais, Tom Sneva, Unsers, Rutherford, Greg Moore (rip), Adrian Fernandez, Mears, and so man more...**** it I'm depressed

Elkhart Lake is a great addition as is Phoenix. I'm hoping Boston has a very strong turnout and race.

Looking forward to next season

Re: 2015 Open Wheel Racing - The Devil comes to Ferrari & the return Wayward Driver!!

Not a bad race in Mexico- not all that much happened in the front- the biggest thing was that I think Lewis wanted a different strategy- but even after a safety car, he could not make the pass. Nico controlled from out front.

Bad day for Ferrari- Bottas got payback from Russia- and took out Kimi, Vettel got a puncture early- and his race just unraveled from there- to a crash.

Rossi did beat his teammate, again.

Thinking about it- it would make an interesting week vacation- Austin and then Mexico City. Nice looking track.

Re: 2015 Open Wheel Racing - The Devil comes to Ferrari & the return Wayward Driver!!

Going to ruffle some feathers perhaps but... F1 bores the crap out of me. I don't get it.

In Indycar news, it's now or never for Boston Grand Prix. The Mayor has asked them to get their agreements signed with the various local agencies and finalize things in the next 2 weeks or he will likely pull support for the event. Lovely.

I know I'm going slightly off-topic and embracing my inner hillbilly but yesterday's NASCAR/WWE event with Joey Logano getting intentionally wrecked was hilarious. Especially seeing all those hillbillies going CRAZY when it happened.

You've mentioned that before. Don't watch- simple solution.
