2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

My perception of TTT is that he has an extreme eastern bias, therefore the sarcasm is very hard to catch on the radar the one time he's possibly ripping eastern hockey....but yet, when looking at his pole, he has UW 5 and 3 eastern teams ahead of them, is that pole sarcasm too? I can't wait to see how the eastern powers handle the Friarettes.
TTT lowballs Wisconsin because he knows they are the Eagles' worst nightmare. That's why nobody complained too much about BC falling to second in the PWR and having to play Harvard, because the alternative of playing UW wasn't any better.

As for teams handling the Friarettes, I'm guessing that those that find their way into the polls will do that just fine, no matter what side of the map they live on.

Eastern Bias...Western Elitism...Philosophical questions which nobody seems to have the answers to...Wonderment at what Al Gore is the father of and how seriously we take things we find there.

Maybe these guys have it right. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdEWEg3AzvQ

Ha... I get that, I do, but that was seriously the most obvious joke I've ever made here.

Also my Eastern Bias is substantially less extreme than you are aware I think lol

I based the bulk of my decisionmaking on how much each team lost in scoring. I realize that's an imperfect system but it's a system nonetheless and the rankings will change as we go along here.

I'm very quick to give credit where it's due. For example, in saying I think the Gophers are a total wagon this year.

That's kind of single-dimensional, rather than just imperfect. For example, Harvard graduated three D who played a ton. Losing Edney is a bigger loss than anybody Wisconsin graduated. One would have to think Harvard was considerably ahead of Wisconsin to think the Crimson losses didn't drop them below UW. As for Clarkson being ranked higher, the Golden Knights finished a ways down on Bucky last year, so they have ground to close. Minnesota lost more than Bemidji State, so by that rationale, the Gophers should be ranked lower than BSU. Same argument could be made for BC and BSU. It's not just what you lost, it's what you still have.

You're right, which is why I said "the bulk of" and not "entirely."

Man... you guys. I love ya. But man. lol

You're the one who ranked Wisconsin 5th, so don't make it seem like everybody else is out in left field. While I don't agree with those who have UND that high, if you have Wisconsin that low, and you offer one piece of reasoning as to why, and that piece is ... Yeah.

What you quoted has nothing to do with what I think of people ranking Wisconsin above 5th. It has to do with how INSANE this thread has gotten over (1) a clear joke and (2) how people are taking everything I'm saying overly literally for some reason (i.e. "the bulk of the reasoning for my rankings" vs "THE ENTIRE REASON FOR MY RANKING" and "almost every game was close" vs "EVERY SINGLE GAME WAS CLOSE.")

Anyway. ARM, I have Wisconsin 5th but it's more of a (1) (2) (345) ranking, not a (1)(2)(3)(4)(5) ranking. I had to pick someone. Personally I think really highly of Clarkson and I didn't think UW told me anything with their games against PC.

Clarkson plays Cuse and UVM this week while Wisco has 2 against OSU. If both teams sweep and Wisco looks good against OSU I'd probably move them all the way up to 3rd. It's so fluid this time of year.

Also wasn't the Wisconsin thread all offseason about people in panic mode saying they think Wisconsin might miss the tournament? That's obviously silly but I don't think it's ludicrous for me to have Wisconsin in a virtual 3 way tie for 3rd.

Week 2 poll coming up momentarily --

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

I do this only because it is fun:

1-Minnesota, defending national champions are traditionally ranked #1 until they do something to persuade us that they aren't really as good this year as they were last.
2-Harvard, defending national championship runners-up are often ranked #2 until they do something to persuade us that they aren't really as good this year as they were last.
3-Boston College, very good last year, made the final four, some significant losses, some significant returnees, opening weekend sweep over a team from the group of teams that western bias posters say we should all fear.
4-Wisconsin, very good last year, made the final four, opening weekend sweep over a team from what western bias posters (and TTT20) say is a very weak conference.

Really, that's about all I've got. For the rest I really have very little idea.

5-Clarkson, why not?
6-North Dakota, might be good, but #6 in the country?
7-What else do you have out east, because the west is looking a little thin to me after NoDak, maybe Boston University?
8-Quinnipiac maybe?
9-Someone from the CHA, Mercyhurst?
10-I know how to spell Bemidji.

UMD? No. Really not, no.
Ohio State? Maybe. For the purposes of what I am attempting here Lindenwood doesn't really count. Show me something.

Again, what else do you have out east because the west is looking a little thin to me after NoDak. I am hoping that Ohio shows up and I completely do not discount the possibility that Duluth is at least good enough to stay close to Boston College based on ability rather than merely it having been opening weekend when anything can happen, so maybe they are good. But maybe they are not.

What else you got out there in the east? Anyone? Bueller? Anything at all?

I guess you'll have to keep them #2 until at least Oct 23, then, because that's their first game.

Looking at the poll, I'd say it is pretty accurate, or at least as accurate as you could hope this early, seems the east/west thing cancels out. Princeton/Yale? Cornell/Dartmouth?
I may as well flip a coin about the teams out east except for the usual suspects.

I know I've been beating this drum but I am telling y'all, NU is the second best team in Hockey East
We'll have to see how NU's goaltending plays out, and the offense has to be more than just Coyne. The thing with BU is it is always playing its best hockey when the postseason arrives, to as great an extent as any team I can remember.

Which would put them, what, sixth in the WCHA?
Obviously tops in the WCHA I think we can all admit that.

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

I'd be interested to read a report from the BU/PSU game. BU handily won the shot count, and there was nothing in Penn State's performance last week that indicated that they could score five goals on 26 shots. Bad goaltending? Bad turnovers?

BC better watch out, or all of the cupcakes will have been eaten before they get there.
