2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

BC up 6-0 early in the second against Syracuse. Carpenter with a natural hat trick, and Skarupa with four assists, putting her past the 200 point mark.

It'll be back-to-back seasons undefeated at the break. I don't remember that happening in the NCAA era.

I just went through the USCHO poll archives. Since 1998, the oldest poll in the list, only three teams have ever entered the break with a perfect record:

1) 2015 BC
2) 2015 UW (assuming they get through NoDak)
3) 2012 UM

That's it.

That's nuts that there may be two this year...

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

Looking for thoughts on Harvard still being ranked number 8. 8-4-1, including losses to 3 unranked teams (Dartmouth, Princeton, UMD). 2-3 in their last 5 games. I'd actually have Princeton over them from the ECAC - same number of losses (only 2 to unranked opponents), 4-1 in last 5 games, and they just beat Harvard Seems like this ranking is based on Katey Stone and history, not current reality.

Harvard not as strong as last year and not shoe-in for top 4.

In terms of ranking, I've seen a bit of ECAC this year. Quinny at top makes sense. Followed by the cluster that is Harvard, Clarkson and Princeton. There is no way to know exactly who would win a tournament made up of these three, but I'd give the edge to Harvard - and not because of past history, just this season only.

Harvard - Except for opener vs Dartmouth, there are no head-scratching losses. I do not agree that Princeton and UMD are "unranked". They have been in the equation all season and both have appeared in top 10.

Clarkson - Have benefited from a lot of weaker scheduled opponents so far. Not many major challenges on the resume. Of the games that were against challenging opponents: Beat Princeton and SLU, tied Dartmouth and Harvard, lost to QU. So 2-1-1 in those contests. The real problem I have is they lost to RPI and Colgate. Those are head-scratchers.

Princeton - Lost to SLU and Clarkson. Beat Harvard in OT. All other games they've been a model of consistency, with exception of loss to Cornell. Hard to rank them higher than Clarkson yet (because of that head to head 3-0 loss), but continued consistency combined with more Clarkson inconsistency, and they leap ahead.

Not so much Colgate. They're a respectable team this year with a surprising amount of young talent.
I agree. There is no ranking system that has SLU above Colgate now, so if someone is thinking that the Saints are a quality team but the Raiders are not, then that person is basing too much on previous seasons.

Probably guilty. Sorry Colgate.

The third time has not, so far, been the charm for St. Cloud so far. Minnesota is up 3-0 after the first period. Shots are 17-5.

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

Uhm, whoa. North Dakota is up 2-0 on Wisconsin late in the first period.

Yes, I checked to make sure it was a women's game in the box score.

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

Wisconsin at N Dakota is as much a 'trap game' is it gets - on the road against a pretty good team, the week after the BIG emotional wins against Minn, the week before finals, and the last series before XMAS. I was afraid of this, but I'm not at all surprised.

BTW: only the third time the Badgers have trailed this year, and the first time trailing by two.

Now let's see how they react...

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

Minnesota up 6-0 after two.

North Dakota up 2-0 after one. What's striking is that Menke, Kohler, and Dufault have a total of zero points.

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

The Badgers outshot North Dakota 15-2 in the second period, but get nothing past Amsley-Benzie and still trail 2-0.

Gophers up 7-0 halfway through the third.

UMD beats Ohio State 4-2.

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

North Dakota now up 3-0 with 12 minutes to play.

Edit: And dominating the shot totals in the third, too.

North Dakota is either a really good team, or a bad one, and I have no idea which.
