2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

I didn't realize he was still in the league
I'd never heard of him (Zenon Konopka, sounds like a "Flash Gordon" character). But that stands to reason. Fringe players don't have the resources to hire the best chemists, and they have nothing to lose by using PEDs. If they don't use them, they're probably out of the league, and if they do use them and get caught, they're out of the league. If they do use them and don't get caught, they might hang on for a while, so using them is quite rational.

Bob missed it (sacre bleu!!). Shero gone. New GM will evaluate coaching staff. Right now Blysma is still the coach.
I find this bizarre. Assuming he attracts interest from other teams in need of a head coach (and I think he will), why should Bylsma stay around and twist in the wind, and possibly miss out on other coaching opportunities? I find this more weird than the Leafs retaining Carlyle.

Mookie?

Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

I visited the Sioux thread at that time and said that by the time it's all said and done he may end up being the greatest player to ever pass through there (UND).

I'd say he already is unless I'm missing someone.

North Dakota has been blessed to have some great hockey players come through the program. Toews is certainly in the discussion, but I don't know if I would go so far as saying he's the greatest. For example, can you even compare Toews with Belfour? That being said, I don't know who would be above him.

Of course, this discussion really looks only at post-collegiate success. Toews was an extremely good, but not overly dominant college player. Of course, he was also like 8 years old playing against players three times his age. :p:D:D

He still can't grow a beard.

I couldn't agree more. Mario said that Disco would be grabbed up a minute after he was fired. Why would they keep him, not only twisting in the wind, but more so after the Pens' putrid playoff performance?

IMHO, I'm still surprised that they got past the Jackets.

He will go, but he is under contract so can't quit.

I don't agree with how they are leaving him out to hang- unless someone thinks that the caps want him and that he is a decent enough coach to make them better (which would hurt the pens).

Sorta why I thought they should just trade him (like say Jon ferrel) along with Sid and flower to Fla for #1s on 2014,15,18 along with Lu and Jimmy Hayes.

Problem with them is no decent depth on 3&4 with geno and Sid taking up all that money.

Hey SteveP, why are your Marlies so da<!-- -->mn good this year, when the Leafs were so terrible? They're going to sweep my Chicago Wolves tonight.

Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

I didn't think it was possible for a team playing with the home ice advantage in the seventh game of a series to dump a bigger load of crap in its pants than either Boston or Pittsburgh did earlier this week, but Anaheim is well on its way to doing just that.

Boy I wish I had the answer to that. There were lots of online experts in Leafsland saying that the two teams should have just swapped unis!

Seriously, there's a lot of talent both on and behind the bench that I'm sure will be at the ACC in the fall once the housecleaning is complete.
