Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

This conversation has veered off a bit.....to get try and get it back on track to hockey but still on the subject of commercials...those GEICO commercials (I think it's GEICO) about rivals make me roll my eyes. Are Bruins and Flyers really rivals?

Yeah, I can't buy that and it defeats the commercial imo.

Was there a Kings/Sharks one? I can kinda see that.

An interesting take on Sidney and the Pens.

Here’s another thing to ponder: When was the last time you saw that trademark fire, that maniacal competitiveness, in Crosby’s eyes? Even the Penguins ownership was concerned with Crosby’s body language in the playoffs, according to Trib sources, which inspired a rare trip to the locker room by Mario Lemieux after Game 6. Aside from this passive-aggressive spat with Dan Bylsma on the bench in Game 2, Crosby looked like a guy sitting in an H&R Block.

With three minutes remaining in Game 7, Chris Kunitz hesitated at the blue line, and Crosby drifted offside. It was a bizarre mistake to witness — the kind mere mortals make all the time but that Crosby seemed immune to from 2008-2013. Old Crosby would’ve went nuts, at least internally. But instead of seething with wild-eyed rage and rapidly engorging like a tomato-red Randy Savage (the punches are only making him stronger!), Crosby did the craziest thing I’ve ever seen him do. He shrugged his shoulders and laughed.

#whatLucictoldWiese was trending last night. Personally, I thought he said, "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." That's why Wiese thought it was a threat.

I thought he said "you wanna trade names? You be Mr. Pink."

I thought he said "you wanna trade names? You be Mr. Pink."

I saw that too. I pumped out well over 100 possible things he said, the most popular being a Game of Thrones quote:
#whatlucictoldweise A day will come when you think you are safe and happy, and your joy will turn to ashes in your mouth.

It seems to have caught on with both GoT fans and Rangers fans :D

Based on some of DW's comments today, it might be time for another "Joe Thornton got traded?" thread this summer.

Well, someone has to be blamed for consistent underachievement, and like any good corporation it surely can't be upper management.

Well, part of it is wanting to be “move towards a harder, younger, more aggressive team” Thornton is a lot of things, but aggressive isn't one of those. (Shoot the fcking puck!)

Not thrilled about McClellan, but who's out there? Trotz? Someone was mentioning Bylsma, which sounds like the same thing.

Maybe I missed this posted earlier, but Zenon Konopka got suspended for 20 games today for violating the PED policy.

I love this old post from me; and, I love that you can add another Olympic gold and Cup onto that resume since the date of that post. And, by the end of June, ... who knows.

The post (from June 10, 2010):

{stand by, firestorm to follow}

In the last five years putting all this onto the resume:

- 2006 and 2007 World Junior Champion
- 2007 World Champion
- 2010 Olympic Champion, including top tournament forward
- 2010 Stanley Cup Champion (team captain) and Conn Smythe winner (playoff MVP)

Is Jonathan Toews the best forward on Earth today?

I can't think of another guy right now that I'd start a team with; not Crosby, not Ovechkin.

Firestorm then; genius now.

I'm dreading a MTL-CHI final. It's fun to make fun of the Canadian (and simultaenously Canadiens) Stanely Cup drought, but I'm going to have to root for the Habs if the Blackhawks make the finals.

I visited the Sioux thread at that time and said that by the time it's all said and done he may end up being the greatest player to ever pass through there (UND).

I'd say he already is unless I'm missing someone.

There is no player that I'd trade him for. Hawks fans are blessed and unfortunately a lot of those meatheads don't always remember it or realize it.
