2014 NCAA Frozen Four: Minnesota vs. Wisconsin in Border Battle Semifinal

They could bribe them with treats from the snack bar? :D

Best snack bar in college hockey. Bottle of soda $2.00, huge hot dogs $3.50, chicken fingers $5.50. Although Iceisnice pointed out that there was a major oversight...no Whoopie Pies.

Re: 2014 NCAA Frozen Four: Minnesota vs. Wisconsin in Border Battle Semifinal

That was the best game I've seen Wisconsin play in three years. They came out aggressive and played hard deep into the third period. Minnesota was sloppy in the first and was lucky to escape down only one. The Gophers controlled the first 10-12 minutes of the second, taking a lead and just missing on several glarious chances that might have caused the game to end early. But they didn't convert and Bucky stormed back with two goals late to go back into the locker room with another lead.

Given Minnesota's propensity to dominate late the only time I was really nervous was when Wisconsin took the 3-2 lead and it lasted until Brandt tied it up. From that point on I was confident the Gophers would pull it out.

What really intrigued me was that the Badgers came out with a really aggressive forecheck designed to take away the Minnesota D's ability to pass the puck to each other behind the net, which is a staple of our breakout. It gave the Gophers absolute fits for the whole period. I was waiting to see if we could adjust to it but Wisconsin backed off of it for the rest of the game and I ended up wondering why. Maybe they thought we'd adjust and didn't want to get caught. Maybe it's too tiring to play for 60 minutes against a deep team. But I was surprised to see it go away without us really having to demonstrate that we could beat it.

From a Clarkson fan, let me say that this was one of the most entertaining games of women's hockey that I've ever seen. If you guys get to see this kind of play every weekend, I understand how you sell out arenas. Great effort by the Badgers and great win for the Gophers.

Definitely agree with this. Fun to watch.

Re: 2014 NCAA Frozen Four: Minnesota vs. Wisconsin in Border Battle Semifinal

Leveille was the weak link yesterday but the O bailed her out; just too much O for UW to cope with, though they played great for long stretches. The UW pk can't allow 2 ppgs and expect to win when UW is a little low on firepower.

I'm torn who to root for. I'd love to see the West's domination continue, but I don't want to see the rodents win. It would be a great validation of UW's #2 ranking for pretty much the whole year if the rodents crushed Clarkson and kinda prove they got a little screwed with the 4 seed, though apparently the numbers said they were a 4, but the eye test said otherwise. They would have had to beat the rodents anyway, so I'm not crying too much about playing them in the semis instead of the finals. If an eastern team would win someday, I guess I wouldn't mind if it as long as it wasn't Harvard, BU or BU, I'm still torn.

Women's hockey.....Team Canada @ Sochi..... most people remember it well

You might want to check out the new issue of Mclean's Magazine...Special Collector's Edition 2014 Sochi Olympics.

It's one of those turn upside down and look at a different front cover type of issues...like bi-lingual without the bi-lingual...with Ward and Poulin on one cover and Toews and Crosby on the other.

Some great photos of those hockey games with accompanying narrative but also many other Canadian Olympic stories.

10 prunes but should be a lot of interesting reading.
