2014 Kendall Classic: UAA, UAF, Wisconsin, Maine.

Re: 2014 Kendall Classic: UAA, UAF, Wisconsin, Maine.

How good is the video stream through the WCHA.TV portal?

Anyone have comments on the quality of video production and/or commentary?

Is it work the $12 per game?

I'm not sure if I want to shell out $24 to watch low quality video streams with some kids from the university's broadcast journalism department trying to provide play-by-play...but if it is good video with good commentary I might consider.

...and they consider Anchorage close enough.

The Video feed is absolutely great, however, camera angles sometimes are washy, but Kurt Haider and David Tuttle are great announcers! And I think price is $8.00 per game. At least that is what I paid last year! I am so looking forward to both Hockey and BBall season at UAA!

Re: 2014 Kendall Classic: UAA, UAF, Wisconsin, Maine.

I believe the price is $12.00 a game.... as to the quality of the broadcast, the students who run it last year will not be doing it this year. As I hear it because of the new scoreboard and sound system that the production portion is done by a professional crew. Looking forward to the "new" experience at the Sully. Just that we'll have to do it with the same old seats and glass....no changes until next year <sigh>

So they are changing the seats out and glass next year?

Also, I just saw a recent picture of the Sullivan Arena, and it looks like the moved the blue seats in the aisle to the mezzanine section???? Can anyone confirm? I guess they didn't want to block the aisles any longer?

Kurt is a 30 year play-by-play/sports commentator. He's a consummate professional with a great voice. Expect to have all your team's names pronounced correctly. Expect to hear their names when they have the puck. Expect to have your team respected in the commentary. There is nobody in college hockey that I've ever heard do a better job treating the opposition fairly than Kurt Haider.

That is what I was told, new seats, glass, boards, new refrigeration unit and new paint....but that can change with the political wind.....

When I posted this I was referring to the video which I have no current knowledge of.
The play by play call is unrivaled in the college game.
When we play an away game I put Kurt on radio and mute the video.
He's that good!

I do recall watching a video on the new scoreboard and with it came some HD video equipment because the screen shows HD video replays. Nothing against the students and a really big thank you for doing it over the years, but this is big news here...almost as big as moving the dumb blue seats out of the aisle, always thought that was a safety concern.

Just go to a big time Badger fan with a computer that might dial the game in on the Radio web site and listen at his house that way you don't have to pay for the electricity either.

I think most UAA fans mute the TV and listen to Kurt when UAA is on the road. Even when just listening on the radio, Kurt makes you feel like you are right there. And it's not just UAA fans who rave about him, many fans across the nation say the same thing. Enjoy!

So they did move the blue seats?

Did the Muni decide to buy the new scoreboard from the Aces? Last I heard there was talk whether or not the Muni would buy it outright or lease its usage since the Aces bought the thing themselves.

I am sure the lease will be a lot less than the hourly rental rate of the brackets, braces, and electrical hook ups that the sully will counter with. You can believe that, or call or email the muni, Sully, or the Aces and somebody might give it up.

I heard (from a very reliable source) that the Muni did buy it, and now UAA has to pay to use it. Not only that, they have to pay someone to run it, since not just anyone can operate it.

Wisconsin is bringing 8 incoming freshmen on the trip and 6 are expected to be in the lineup on Friday night. Two redshirt freshmen will also be in the lineup.
