2014 Frozen Four

Re: 2014 Frozen Four

LMAO!!

Beats me. Watch the NCAA beg? Hold it in my living room?

I suspect the NCAA would put the word out a bit louder to get bids in and perhaps lower their requirements. Of course, they could always go back to holding it on one of the campuses of one of the final four teams like they used to.
Will you be in Lake Placid in 2 weeks?

Re: 2014 Frozen Four

I plan to be in Lake Placid. Probably buying my tickets tomorrow. Unfortunately, I won't be able to partake of adult beverages with all you fine gentlemen, since I'll be traveling alone and staying at home in Plattsburgh (and therefore need to... you know... Drive.) But I'm looking forward to one heck of a weekend of hockey, no matter who's there!

Re: 2014 Frozen Four

Yes! So will Ange. Staying at the Art Devlin's.

But please keep Saints17 away from me...

Keep your hands off the bobsled and you'll be fine. We were in Zig Zags last year and it was kinda stale in there. I am thinking the Sportsbar down the hill from the rink would be better.

We were at Wiseguys last year on Saturday. It was rocking. Both SNC and Oswego were there.

Re: 2014 Frozen Four

Not sure why so many people are worried about food. A championship weekend is about hockey, and you grab meals where you can conveniently. There are plenty of decent places to eat in LA (Lewiston/Auburn is pretty much considered one city around here). And there are some great places. If you truly love to eat great food, spend a few nights before or after in Portland. Portland is considered, with good reason, to be one of the very best cities in the country to eat. There are quite a few truly outstanding restaurants in Portland - but you wouldn't be eating in them if the hockey was played in the CCCC anyway. Or go skiing up to Sugarloaf or Sunday River.

Does anybody know when tickets go on sale? I'll be looking to make the short drive to see Babson defend their upcoming championship!!

Driving to NH on Sunday after the championship. What's the easiest way to get to the Northway to get to the ferry?

You are spot on. Lewiston/Auburn has a tarnished reputation as a run down mill town, but honestly it really isn't that bad. It is an easy drive to Portland and Brunswick and it has some fairly decent hotels and restaurants(somewhat limited though). Ultimately, people who come to the D3 Frozen Four are the "heart and soul" of hockey and true hockey fans. They will not be disappointed with the atmosphere and support that L/A will give them. It too, has an extremely rich and deep tradition of hockey. It has had organized hockey since the French-Canadian immigrants came down from the farms of Quebec to work in the big textile mills at the beginning of the 1900s. The area boasts a long history of great hockey along with many local kids that skated at the D3 and D1 level over the years. As for the venue, it's straight up built for hockey. Some of the greats have skated there in some way, shape or form(Bobby Orr, Ray Bourque, Pelle Lindberg, and Sidney Crosby to name a few) from the old Maine Nordiques right up to the Lewiston Maineiacs. Every game will be packed and the crowd will be loud because they KNOW good hockey when they see it. The night life may not be the best, but like one poster did mention, the BLUE GOOSE is a local favorite. When that fills up(it's the size of a large walk-in closet with a foosball table) just head across the bridge to Gritty's Tavern in Auburn. I for one, am stoked at having this in my backyard and can't wait to meet some good, knowledgeable hockey fans from away.

P.S. As far as Bates getting a team(which puzzles me to this day why they don't have one), it's not going to happen. But I did like one poster from Bowdoin College giving the "jab" about winning a national title in Bates' backyard. See you in 2014!

Re: 2014 Frozen Four

Just got back to catching up on the latest, I can't understand why Utica didn't put in a bid, after all, we all know they're going to win it all next year.
