This one registers a little higher on my personal electrical meter:

Christmas spirit! Yes, that was a great moment for Minny, though I do love that Blake Bolden's last move as an Eagle was to recognise the danger and squeeze through behind Boyles to try and block the goal. The Gophers dominated that OT, the result was fair. Great game.

I felt bad for Bolden as well. She was great for two periods and started to wear down as the game progressed. I'm sure that she would have wished to have a different final shift in a BC jersey.

For me it will always be hard to top Terry's game winner in the 3rd OT against UND. That was an epic game.

Also of note to rodent fans. Vintage MN Hockey is offering this seasons alternate jersey for $105. Ours just arrived today & they are first quality hockey jersey's not cheap imitations. They are gorgeous. http://classicmnhockey.com/collecti...nesota-gophers-womens-hockey-alternate-jersey

Sure would like one of those. Never make 'em big enough for me though...:(

Re: 2014-2015 Minnesota Women's Hockey: The Maroon & Gold Strike Back!

So...the Saints, Close games with BC including a tie. An OT win vs. Harvard. A tie with Quinni. They've gone three rounds with Clarkson...one with Cornell.

A schedule that should have them prepped to start the second half. Little doubt both the Gophers and Saints will be looking to start 2015 strong. Like to see the Gophs come out firing. I haven't seen them but expect SLU to be tough based on some of their results. Strange scheduling...time to shake the rust off.

Interesting scheduling in that SLU plays the Mavericks in Mankato on Saturday before their Sunday-Tuesday series at Ridder. Not sure if that favors the Saints or the Gophers.

I would think that it favors the Saints early on Sunday and the Gophers later in the game on Sunday and Tuesday.

Thinking a little about the affect on the following weekend too.

So the Saints win 1 1/2 periods and the Gophers 4 1/2. Given a win at Mankato, that will leave SLU 1-1-1 for the Minny trip. That's the least they deserve with this go-for-broke scheduling. (It would be nice to see more of this from the ECAC.) :)

I don't think that game will be too taxing on them, but it will be a good practice before they take the dive into the rodent burrow. It will be interesting to see how their play against them stacks up with UM and UW. There aren't too many east/west same opponent games to compare.

Some of the Gophers commented they could feel it in their legs at the end of the SCSU game at Braemar. That was three games in four day also..

Coach Joel Johnson will miss St Lawrence and UW series to coach the U18 team.

Recruits Sophie Skarzynski (USA) and Sarah Potomak (CAN) are playing in that tournament.

On the alumni side, Sarah Davis and Kelly Terry are playing with the Canadian National Development Team at the Nations Cup tournament, with Kelly named as team captain. http://www.gophersports.com/sports/w-hockey/spec-rel/123114aaa.html

Meanwhile, Hannah Brandt got interviewed for the 12/31 episode of Gopher Sports Update.

Finally, in case you missed it on Twitter, the GWH Alumni Game is scheduled for Saturday, January 10 at 10 a.m. at Ridder Arena.

This was an error... we received another tweet that the game is on Sunday, January 11 at 10 a.m.

Re: 2014-2015 Minnesota Women's Hockey: The Maroon & Gold Strike Back!

I looked for a St. Lawrence thread but didn't find it. I hope their fans are reading here since they are playing the Gophers this weekend. My wife and I ran into a bunch of their players on Wednesday, and the ladies were extraordinary representatives for their school. In fact, I think my wife will be rooting for several of them to do well.

That is a nice anecdote. Did you run into them in Minneapolis? They got here early! I suppose they are staying at a hotel in Mpls for a bunch of days experiencing the cities and just driving to and from Mankato. I wonder what arena they are using getting ready for their games.

Hopefully they didn't take the same bus here that the Gophers took to Princeton!

We ran into them on the train, so had a chance to chat for a bit. We didn't ask where they were staying, but I would not be surprised if they were staying at the on-campus hotel that hosts visiting teams and were using the U's facilities. Better than renting ice somewhere, and the light rail would give them easy access to both downtowns and MOA.

Brad Frost on resuming play. He says 'everybody is back" which makes me think Brook Garzone may be suited up and playing!

I'm looking forward to the Gophers resuming play tomorrow. Hopefully they get better and better throughout the 2nd half of the season and the postseason!!
Go Gophers!

Re: 2014-2015 Minnesota Women's Hockey: The Maroon & Gold Strike Back!

I would really like to watch the SLU game but don't want to pay $10 for it. If anyone going to the game has a BTN2go login they'd be willing to share I wouldn't turn it down...

:)
