Re: 2014-2015 Minnesota Women's Hockey: The Maroon & Gold Strike Back!

Speaking of commitments, the Gophers have announced their incoming recruits before the end of November in eight of the last nine years (2012’s announcement did not come until Dec 14). I’m hoping this year’s delay is just a matter of everyone being busy and not a harbinger of unexpected news.
I didn't ask this year, but when I have in the past, the reason that the announcement was late was because the SID sent out a questionnaire to the recruits that is used to provide information in the announcement, and at least one had yet to return it. Could be more of the same.

How about right now?

Thanks Mr Crazy.

No Emma May on the list

Enough with the negative!

Welcome Sarah Potomak, Sophie Skarzynski , and Taylor Williamson, the new Gophers to be. It will be fun to watch them next season at Ridder with the rest of the Gophers. All the best to the three~

Last week I Googled a local restaurant, hoping to discover their hours of operation. Google added the phrase “This site may be hacked” to the listing. I wasn’t sure if it was warning me or giving permission.

Love that! Thanks for sharing.

Sarah Potomak, Sophie Skarzynski , and Taylor Williamson,

quality over quantity
Bona, Ramsey, and Lorence will be big skates to fill
but those 3 have uber potential

so anybody see pops & grandfather play at the U?
I ain't quite that old :)

And "I ain't" quite that old to have seen grandfather, but definitely pops (Dean) in the late 80's. He was a very good player, for sure, but my guess is daughter Taylor will exceed his point total before her Gopher career is over. She's off to a tremendous start as a senior at Edina and I won't be at all surprised to see her make an immediate contribution in her freshman year as a Gopher.

NHL Channel is broadcasting the CWHL All-Star game I hear. To begin now. Heard Megan Bozek is playing. ;)

I’m old enough to have seen her father play too, hopefully Taylor will win the national championship her father did not. If I remember correctly it was Dean who received a vicious cross check that was not called on Harvard while the score was tied. What should have been a Gopher power play instead turned out to be a Harvard goal when they scored a couple minutes later. If I didn’t already hate Bob Johnson enough, he said it was a good hit during the replay which clearly showed the cross check, even the play by play guy was incredulous. Yeah, it was a good hit if you don’t like the Gophers. The Gophers tied it up in the final minutes, but eventually lost in OT. The team was loaded with great players, but many of them were young and still not at their prime. The blueline corp was one of the outstanding ones in Gopher history, I believe Tom Pederson & Larry Olimb were freshmen, Lance Pitlick, Luke Johnson, Todd Richards & Randy Skarda, probably forgetting someone, david Espe. Tom Chorske was on the team having returned from the Olympics.

. . . he said it was a good hit during the replay which clearly showed the cross check, . . .

Reminds me of Lou Ninny talking over the video of Henry Boucha getting mugged by an Edina player at the state tournament. Blind people saw that penalty, only the refs & fans of one team didn't.

Re: 2014-2015 Minnesota Women's Hockey: The Maroon & Gold Strike Back!

This was the best thread in which to post this...

Noora Räty made news today in Finland in announcing her intent to pursue playing on the Finnish Olympic Team again, thanks to being able to play full time with her current men's team and with some additional pledged financial support from Subaru.

The story is in Finnish, but I was able to use Google Translate to get the gist of it. http://www.hs.fi/urheilu/a1418957880061

Gophers' announcement about FF tickets being available:
http://www.gophersports.com/sports/w-hockey/spec-rel/121614aaa.html
"In addition, the first 500 fans to purchase an all-session chairback or adult/senior/student/youth bench ticket before Jan. 9 will receive a complimentary ticket to the Jan. 11 women's hockey game between Minnesota and Wisconsin at Ridder Arena."

I wonder how they will let people know if they were one of the first 500? I purchased mine online yesterday right at 9:00am.

Just bought two chair-back seats very near to where you and I usually park for the 1st and 3rd. All sessions, and received the five buck discount on each. No freebie.

I snooze...I lose...:(

I have a really important question -- when is Sally's expected to reopen?
