2014-2015 Minnesota State University, Mankato Season Thread: Shipping up to Boston?

Re: 2014-2015 Minnesota State University, Mankato Season Thread: Shipping up to Bosto

Maybe so. Does anyone know, is this the first time this has happened? Two top-10 teams in Mankato?
When these two teams played each other at the beginning of the season it was #1 and #9, but not in Mankato. Now, it is #2 and #4.

IIRC, in 2002-2003 during the unbeaten streak, the Mavericks never were ranked higher than #11. I could be wrong though. It's the first Top 5 matchup without question. Likely the first Top 10 matchup as well.

The games are a ways away still, but I'm not optimistic C.J. Franklin will be ready to play.

.

I see no reason both teams won't be in the Top 10 again next year unless both are ravaged with early departures.

The only reason would be if Tech doesn't go to Mankato, which I'm thinking they actually don't...only 2 in Houghton next year, I think.

It is the Mavs turn to only play Tech 2 games next year in Houghton.

Is that for sure? I really hope they play 4 again. I'd like to make it to Tech at some point, that would be a heck of a weekend to do it.

2 at Mankato last season
4 this season
2 at Houghton next season

Hope the MAVS will be healthy as can be versus Tech, gotta have Franklin!! Does anyone know who the MAVS are recruiting? I know of a couple players Zach Mills and Trey Rooney. A kid the should be after is from Culver Academy young and great skills, he chats on Twitter and has asked about MSU. thanks n Go MAVS!!

Indiana. It's a hockey prep school. The Geoffrion brothers all played there, as did Nic Dowd, JM Liles, and Gary and Ryan Suter. Oddly, former Mexican president Felipe Calderon attended as well (although presumably he couldn't back-check).

Yeah, he couldn't skate backwards very well.

Interesting. Given that the introductory article in their Top 100 series promised us 3 Mavericks, Margonari's inclusion means some of the following names will be left out: Blueger (No way. He's gotta be in the Top 100), Franklin, Palmquist, Williams (I'd lean towards him not being on the list, but he has played well this year and is an Islander draft pick), McClure, Leitner (Too old? Too small?)

Re: 2014-2015 Minnesota State University, Mankato Season Thread: Shipping up to Bosto

Hope he plays but where is MSU at recruiting wise? Will they have official visitors this weekend or how does that work? Thanks

It's tough to get kids on campus for games during the season as most are playing games then, so not sure about this weekend or not. Kids are here frequently during the week to tour campus, the facilities, etc.

The Mavericks have a huge class of 13 coming in, as well as three commits already for the 2016-2017 season. My guess is probably 11 of the 13 actually are on campus in August.

As we all know, big weekend ahead! Tickets for Saturday are looking pretty slim.
According to the mavericks website, Saturday will be a 'white out', and they will be giving away 5000 towels.

The Rat with his first assist and then first goal of his NHL career tonight for the Islanders! Congrats Kael!
