2014-15 schedules

Re: 2014-15 schedules

From what I've heard, NMU is still shopping around looking for a fifth non-conference opponent, IF they can get the schedules to align. Apparently there was some scheduling changes made by the Canadian universities, which caused the NCAA schools who usually book them to jumble their schedules also.

So there *may* be late scheduling additions made depending on everyone's completed schedule.

I'm sure Hockey East has some opportunities. Also ECAC non-ivy.

Those are the known games. Most of the remaining Hockey East schedule is set but has not been announced:
10/31/14 Massachusetts*
11/01/14 Massachusetts*
01/30/15 Conn*
02/06/15 Notre Dame*
02/07/15 Notre Dame*
02/20/15 Northeastern*
02/21/15 Northeastern*

The conference games at home vs BU, BC and Lowell are unknown and there are still four non-conference games left to schedule. Since they aren't on the road trip application it is assumed they will be home games.

Re: 2014-15 schedules

I dream of BU and BC adding a 3rd game between the two at the Garden relatively early in the season that is part of both teams' season ticket package so that they already have 8-10k seats sold before tickets hit the market.

I'd likely be on board with this idea if it is priced at normal college hockey ticket price points, and not Beanpot / Hockey East Championship price point. Although on the other hand BU vs BC at the Garden feels a lot like a repeat of the Beanpot, so I'm not sure how much sizzle this game has for me.

Re: 2014-15 schedules

Wisconsin is going to play a non-con road series either Oct. 24-25 or Oct. 31 & Nov. 1. Possibilities I've narrowed down are: Western Michigan, Vermont, Northeastern, Notre Dame, Lowell, UMass, UConn, Providence, Maine, Colgate, Princeton, Harvard and Dartmouth.

Anyone from any of these schools know anything?

Perhaps they are Colorado College's "travel partner"?

Maine is playing UAA Oct 24&25 and likely playing UMA in conference 10/31-11/1.

Yeah don't see the appeal to be honest. We already play nearly annually at the garden in the Beanpot.

One of the benefits of fewer HE games was being able to see some new teams.

Yeah, and it's great that BU and BC both dumped the 3rd MC game last year and each got to schedule Wisconsin. It's not great they dumped the 3rd game against each other and both scheduled Holy Cross.

Play 1 at the Garden (or Worcester or Providence if you want it to be at a different 10K plus arena) in early November
Play 1 at BU in early December
Play 1 at BC in Mid January
Maybe have a Beanpot game in February

I don't think any BU or BC season ticket holder will complain that they aren't seeing enough AHA teams if the above happens.

On the whole it's been good for the BCs & BUs of the world. To be honest I'd rather see a Holy Cross type team on the schedule opposed to the 3rd UMass, UVM, etc.

I mean, I'd go in this hypothetical because it's a BC game but not sure the deamnd would be there.

I think the new schedule has definitely been a plus for both schools. This game instead of an AHA game could make it more so. I'm sure you also only went to BC v HC because it was a BC game.

BC required fans to buy tickets to multiple other games this season to get tickets to the BU game and they sold out.

BU sold out the BC game (the only sell out all year) drawing over 1K more than came out to see #2 Wisconsin visit BU for the first time in at least a decade 3 weeks prior.

I think demand for 10K plus is there, Worcester would be a better sized rink for this game but BU, BC, and the Garden are all on the green line so it'd be much easier for fans to go.

Personally, I want to see BU and BC meet in the regular season finale.

Eh BC hasn't had trouble selling tickets in years now regardless of opponent (time of game has a bigger impact). HC game got 6500+ despite it being during the middle of a work day. Granted, many take it off but it is a work day + everyone traveling. My bigger issue is the prospect of losing another home game.

York's OOC philosophy (testing the team early and often on the road) + gimmick games taking away a game at Conte every other year (Fenway) have given us fewer and fewer home games.

Personally, I want to see BU and BC meet in the regular season finale.

No

Those games could be rendered meaningless by then. Also good chance students are on break depending on where the schedule lies.

Re: 2014-15 schedules

So most of SLU's NC schedule is known on this thread with

2 vs Clarkson
2 vs Miami
1 vs RIT / Niagara

add in:

2 vs Vermont
2 vs Ferris State
2 vs Northeastern
and one exhibition vs a Canadian team presumably.

And what's worse is that they have non-conference games against conference opponents.

Teams that have problems scheduling opponents should form a scheduling alliance so they can play NC games at home.

Included would be Maine, Vermont, UNH, LSSU and NMU. Then these teams could have home games instead of playing NC games at neutral sites, against conference teams as NC games.

Instead the teams from disadvantage locations could play other teams in a similar situation.

This would prevent teams from playing all the NC games on the road or not even being able to fill a schedule.

That's why the WCHA needs to develop an interlocking schedule with another league ECAC or AHA.

Or the teams that have hard time scheduling opponents should form an Alliance like Maine, UNH, Vermont, CC, LSSU, and NMU.

A lot of these schools are in this situation because they are in cost prohibitive locations, combining the two should only exacerbate the problem. How does one even get from Orono to Sault Ste Marie?
