2014-15 schedules

Re: 2014-15 schedules

I predict the NMU/Mankato series will be January 2-3.

I predict the 1st LSSU/Mankato series will be November 28-29 @ LSSU and the 2nd series January 9-10 @ Mankato. We shall see if my prediction is right soon (I hope).

With putting the Gophers series at December 12th-13th? I

Nov 28th-29th seems like a definite. I would not count out November 14th/15th for NMU/Mankato yet, unless one of the school has final exams then.

Re: 2014-15 schedules

Minnesota State released it's schedule May 16 last year so perhaps they will release the 2014-15 schedule next week. NMU released it May 20 so NMU's 2014-15 schedule release could be two weeks away.

Re: 2014-15 schedules

Four Alaska exemptions, Canadian exhibition, USA U-18 exhibition, plus the normal 34 games. They only decided to do 32. I believe that was the case with Mankato last year.
I know the rules, I don't get why programs would throw away more games.

Two issues:

You need a weekend off here and there to rest/ heal up.

Trying to match schedules up to get a few more non conference games is not an easy task. Just because you have 38 or 40 games to fill doesn't always equate easily into most teams 34 game schedules.

and if you're desperate for games, it may not be at home, and it might not be anywhere convenient

Re: 2014-15 schedules

Per the Maine banquet, Union is at Maine "after coming back from Alaska." The dates that make sense are 10/17-10/18.

When will Hockey East teams release schedules? Which HE teams could Ohio Stay play?

OSU is already hosting Providence. They could play UConn, Maine, UMass, Northeastern or Vermont. I am guessing that Penn State will host Maine, but it could just as easily be the Buckeyes vs Black Bears. Assuming the B1G/HEA challenge is still on, all those teams need games against B1G opponents and OSU and PSU have almost all of the available games.

Michigan (three games left) and State (two) are already playing UML, BU and New Hampshire. Wisconsin has two left but are already hosting BU. Minnesota's schedule is full. Ohio State still has six openings and Penn State has a whopping 10 left to fill. Most of those will come against the five Hockey East teams listed above.

I don't think every HEA team actually participates. This past year with 11 teams in the league, Northeastern didn't play a B1G team, and now HEA has 12. So unless there are more games happenig this year, some teams get left out. Unless last was just some odd situation of the scheduling not working out, but UMASS and Vermont came to Matthews to play NU in non-conference games, so I feel like if they wanted NU to participate it could have been worked out.

This is correct, I don't know why this confuses so many people. The two leagues are not doing any official scheduling between each other, the individual schools can work out a deal with schools in the other conference if they want to just like with NCHC, ECAC or anyone else. The only difference is the leagues slap a logo on the games after the fact and calls it marketing.

Minnesota State schedule released today. msumavericks.com

PC didn't play a Big 10 team last year...

I know that was the case last year. Someone noticed that a bunch of B1G and HEA teams were playing and decided to market it. I was under the impression that the leagues were going to make it official this season but that is apparently not the case. Still, with so many games left to schedule I would expect OSU and PSU to schedule the remaining HEA schools.

I certainly do not want to see Maine/Vermont/UMass play non-conference games against each other again.

Us non-ivies did it quite a bit when your NC game number was low. Perhaps you'd like to fit in some more games with your old conference? ;)
