2014-15 schedules

Re: 2014-15 schedules

Couple of issues with this: First off, this incompletes St. Cloud's schedule, as there is a discrepancy in SCSU believes they are playing UAH. In addition, the UNO games have changed dates. On top of that, UAH has one game too many. If they're only playing one vs. the USA U-18 team, there's no issue. Unless, of course, the rules have changed to allow as many games as they'd like vs. USA Hockey, which I highly doubt is the case.

Re: 2014-15 schedules

You can play more than one exhibition game...

Have the rules changed? According to the bylaws, it's one exhibition against an international team (most use it against a Canadian school, but some play teams like the Russian Red Stars), one against the USA Olympic team (doesn't happen anymore), one against any other team that is sanctioned by USA Hockey (typically U-18, U-17 in D-III, or the WJC U-20 team), playing Alaska in Alaska, Hall of Fame, Icebreaker, or an International Tour at a maximum of once every four years. Anything beyond that counts against your 34. The "two exhibition games" is misleading because teams that usually use two are playing one international exhibition and one USA Hockey exhibition.

Source is NCAA Division I Manual, rule 17.12.

Specifically you can play 2. Any exhibition games after that count against the 34 game max.

As said by FD... two is a technical truism. One international, one USA. Anything on top of that counts against the limit.

edit: unless there's a slick way to count the other as the international opponent.

Don't forget the Alumni Game exemption...

Division 1 Manual said:
17.12.5.3 Annual Exemptions...

(e) Alumni Game. One ice hockey contest each year against an alumni team of the institution

I would pay good money to see one of these at North Dakota. It would be a lot more fun than the exhibition against Manitoba. Of course, no way that the top alumni players would get released from their NHL teams to play in the exhibition. Fun to dream though :p:D:D

Re: 2014-15 schedules

With that, it's a pretty safe bet that LSSU will go to NMU on 27-28 February.

Not really. The Lakers could still play at NMU January 2-3 or January 23-24. They should play at NMU February 27-28, but both teams could have bye weekends. Yes, the WCHA can be that stupid with scheduling but I'm sure your right with the date FlagDude.

Lakers should play Minnesota State at LSSU November 28-29. I really doubt it would be at Mankato. If it was, LSSU would have a grand total of TWO home games in November and December combined. It would also put LSSU in a situation with 4 out out their last 5 WCHA conference series on the road from late October to middle December which would be B.S. if it was.
