2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

Re: 2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

Not sure if this should be on the complain to ESPN thread or this one.

But the timing of the final game has bugged me since the BCS stuff started. 9pm on a work/school night is stupid. At most, I'll watch the first half, which will stretch to probably 10:30 or so EST. But since I (and thousands of others) drive to work at about 6:45am, we wake up early, and the game makes us choose between a good night of sleep or a watching a game. The game will probably end around midnight or so. For kids, who DO have a school day next Tuesday- what are they thinking?

I know that there have always been late games on New Year's day- but the next day is just the first day of the new year. This is a whole week into the work year and second half of the school year.

Also, I also understand that the BB NC game is at 9pm. But BB's games are much shorter than FB.

There's only one team I would stay up and watch the whole game, and that's my team. Other than that just half is all I'm willing to sacrifice for.

True, it really wouldn't be that big of a deal to stretch it out to the weekend of the next week. Most years that would give teams somewhere between 8 to 14 days to get ready for that game, and would give fans of those schools just a few more days to either make or firm up plans to get to that game if they had any plans on going to said game.

If not during the Christmas-New Years week- MOST college football games are Saturday. And since we are into the new year's schedule- no reason to ask casual fans to sacrifice sleep for just a game.

But ESPN is an NFL centric channel first, SEC second. So we are saddled with the NFL playoffs Saturday night instead of having the college game.

I would *like* to watch the game, but I will only watch half. And then go to bed. It's not worth it.

True, perhaps just shoot for that Friday then. No NFL games to go H2H with, and its a night that doesn't have much of a work day for most people?

Monday night tv audiences are about twice the size of a Friday night audience. Too many people are out and about on a Friday night instead of in front of their TVs. Never happen.

I don't watch any sporting events that start after 8 pm et during the week. I don't want to invest the time and only see half a game. I'll either dvr it or skip it completely.

I've never understood how a 9 pm start for example was still considered prime time.

Because they can run a pregame show from 8-9 (prime time) and the game goes from 9-1230. That's mostly prime time on the east coast (9-11), and still captures a lot of prime time on the west (8-930).

If they started the game at 8 they'd only get a tiny portion of it in prime time on the west coast.

Having the Championship on Monday is a natural - the hoops tournament ends on a Monday and they are in (essentially) the same time slot as Monday Night Football.

In non-championship talk, apparently PSU and the NCAA are in talks about restoring Paterno's wins...

They're gonna end up with nothing but a couple seasons of bowl bans out of this. Pretty unbelievable.

Who even remembers what they did anymore?

It's a gimmick and I never want to see it again. However, these are the only UO jerseys I've seen in 20 years that haven't been horrible.

Just saw the Deadspin article... What in the actual eff

I wouldn't be anywhere near as pizzed if this was a case of a booster handing out $100 bills at a game to players right in front of ESPN cameras... Seriously, why does the NCAA have to be so ****ed stupid all the effing time :mad::mad:

Re: 2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

I guess it's better to butt**** little boys in the locker room and cover it up than it is to pay 18 year olds under the table.

That's exactly the message being sent here by the NCAA.

Hope I'm not the only one who saw jimmy kimmel segment on mean tweets in regard to espn college football personalities. Haven't laughed that hard in a long time

If Oregon could ever catch the ****ed ball on 3rd down, we could have a game here.
