2013 WCHA Final Five: end of hockey's great tournament

Re: 2013 WCHA Final Five: end of hockey's great tournament

Oh, so that's the average for that tourney? In all actuality, I'd like to see all the new tourney's do well, but I do think the Big Ten will have the best tourney and I think North Dakota and its sheep have greatly overestimated themselves.

We have sheep? Sweet! If only your program was worthy enough to be one of them.

I wonder if there is a sixth team that could fit the bill for the Minnesota theme...hmmm...who could there possibly be? Hahaha.
I'm kind of assuming Bemidji won't be there and there is a chance they could end up playing the first round at Mariucci so I left them out.:p

I don't know what the average attendance for that tourney is because it goes on at the same time as the F5. As a result, I usually don't get to see any of the games because I am at the F5 or a nearby bar. I am just using that as an example. But the NCHC tournament will have no problem with getting an attendance of 10,000, North Dakota fans could bring that many alone to Minneapolis.

Bring back the texting board! Let the final five go out in a glorious unfiltered unedited texting board. Last year was a travesty, a travesty I say!

The odds that Duluth will play either SCSU, Minnesota, Mankato, or North Dakota are pretty high as well. That being said, there is at least a decent shot that Bemidji gets Omaha, and you already know how that series will go. :)

I'm really curious to see how the NCHC tournament does attendance wise. In my opinion, it could easily take up where the Final Five left off (in terms of attendance). I wouldn't be surprised if it were to outdraw the B1G Tournament, especially if the "right" teams were involved. Of course, if the "wrong" teams are there, it could be a disaster, unless they have a heavy pre-sale. Which leads to my thoughts that if I were the NCHC, I would have a nice price reduction on tickets for the pre-sale (i.e. sales before March) to guarantee plenty of butts in the seats. Either way, that is the tournament I'm interested in seeing how attendance does next season and beyond.

North Dakota fans proved that the Final Five could be successful without Minnesota there. The NCHC will do just fine.

But what if North Dakota *Gasp* fails to make the Tournament?
Maybe UNO will help make up for that. But the idea of them actually making a tournament in Minnesota befuddles me at the moment.

I doubt many North Dakota fans wait till the last minute to plan their trip to the tournament, so I'm sure many would be there anyways.

No doubt as they gotta get the wagons rolling 10 days prior to make it on time.

I would be very suprised to see that happen. The NCHC won't get the casual local fans that the B1G will draw. And I'm willing to bet that number will be higher than anyone thinks. I'm sure it will do okay and might outdraw the B1G when the Gophers are not involved, even though that is virtually impossible with so few teams. But it will be no where near the F5 now, and the B1G will do slightly better because the schools have bigger names to draw in the non die hard fans.

Most of the UND fans who attend live in the Cities anyway. Until the Bakken was opened up by the Texans there were no jobs in ND.

We will rejoice!

Hahaha! Growing up in a pro-Minnesota house, I learned to hate all things North Dakota. As I grow old, my feelings towards them have mellowed, and they certainly have a unique brand of hockey up there. That being said, they have one of the most annoyingly loyal fanbases that I have ever seen.
