2013 WCHA Final Five: end of hockey's great tournament

Re: 2013 WCHA Final Five: end of hockey's great tournament

At least I won't be sweating my butt off with a jersey on this year. Effing groundhog is full of it.

I made the mistake last year of attending the Final Five before the NCAA Regionals. The Final Five was festive and awesome (eventhough I watched the Gophers collapse like three story card house in front of a Dyson fan to the Sioux) and such a great time and place to watch hockey. Beer sales, Hockey Lodge full of gear, and a band playing (even if it's Uncle Chunk) and freedom. There was a real buzz doing on. Without the real drag of NC$$ politics and PR forcing sites and holding leagues accountable that are attached to other sports, a league can offer a great experience. This will be truly missed. Than I went to the Regionals which was a great result, but it felt like a buzzkill. Here's your seat, there's a pop stand, a mini donut stand, watch hockey and make sure you don't leave between games so you can walk around a cold, half lit arena. Now give us a S**T ton of money and watch Mr. Emmert talk about how the NCAA is about integrity, despite him getting a nice salary off of essentially slave labor.

I realize that I'm putting the covered Whioux wagon in front of the mule, but if Tech wins tonight, do they re-seed before St.Paul?

Meaning, would UW move up to the 3 seed and draw Tech as the lowest remaining seed? Also setting up a possible Friday night matchup...

Not saying I'd want that as I rarely wish for an opponent...

They re-seed before the tourney, yes. After the F5 starts, no re-seeding from what I understand.

I figured that.

Go Tech!

Although UND should probably be at the last ever F5.

Karma is a ***** and UND missing the last one after sinking the conference with DU is fate.

Go Tech and CC tonight let them both miss the final one.

But I've been told countless times that this isn't the last Final Five? Hahaha.

Good luck to Tech tonight, and I just hope the DU-CC game is a classic.

This is correct. After tonight, next weekend's brackets are set. MN will play the winner of the 3-6 game, JBSU vs 4/5 winner.

I don't' have to worry about it with at the Final Five. I saw people doing that last year on the forum. Though I'm of a Great Waters person. Still my point how crappy it is that one tournament is so fan friendly, while the other has you risk losing your seat with bypass measures just to avoid their soulless, lazy cash grab. If I go to the Frozen Four I might try and escape in between games especially if I wouldn't be risking missing the Gophers game.

I figure that UND will get the Thursday night game. what if they don't make it? Would it go to the next higher seed?

I am guessing they will make the decision of whoever will sell the most tickets to that game, correct? So Wisconsin gets that game?

Wisconsin. Mankato would be a close second. However, they would face each other if the purple cows win and either UND or Denver lose.

My impression was that it will be determined by seeding, with the game determining Minnesota's opponent being played Thursday night so that the winner of the other game won't be forced to finish a game at 10pm and then turn around and play again at 2pm the next day.

EDIT: to clarify, after this weekend they will reseed teams 1-6. The 3 vs.6 game would be played Thursday night as the winner of that game will also play the night game Friday.
