Well, FWIW, he had one of his best statistical seasons in 2012 (best net yards/punt and best touchback percentage of his career, along with above average yards/punt).

At the end of the day, Kluwe was making nearly double the NFL average for punters, despite being an average NFL punter. That equals getting cut in the NFL.

Agreed. It also shows that Kluwe should also label himself a coward (along with anyone else in the meetings) for waiting over a year to bring this to light (assuming it is true). To point this out now just seems like an attention grab from someone who has faded from the spotlight.

That's why I was a little miffed by his tone. Would have been enough to call out the bigotry and suppression without the sour grapes.

I don't see the sour grapes really, he even states himself his age and experience as factors.

I like Kluwe, but I can understand prospective teams going with a safer choice. Not because they're anti-gay, but because they're anti-****storm from punters.

Per the forecast on weather.com, Sundays' high in Green Bay will be -3. That's not what I'd call pleasant weather to go to a football game outdoors.

There are...they're just local.

Except he states that he dialed back his punts on the coaching staffs orders. So it kinda throws the stats into question (if true).

They likely asked Locke to do the same thing this year. I believe Locke also had more fair catches than Kluwe as well.

Similar, yes, but the glaring difference is that Kluwe was a replaceable player on the Vikings roster, and Phil Robertson was not a replaceable person on Duck Dynasty (no matter people's personal opinion on the show itself).

The big thing that should be taken away from this article is that Mike Priefer is a doosh. I think he went a little far in labeling Spielman and Frazier cowards as they did what any head coach and GM would do in this situation by asking him to tone it down.

They both can, if they so choose to. I don't think either should have been, though. As has been said, a huge part of Kluwe being released was his salary combined with his abilities, and has been shown, the Vikings got the same production for a million $$ less than if they went with Kluwe.

I'm surprised he never mentioned going to the head coach or GM about Pfiefer's antics, heck, even going to Wilf. Same goes for the other players in the room.

They do have that right...but not due to the organization disagreeing with their opinions. The Duck Dynasty dude was suspended because A&E didn't want his comments to impact viewership and sponsorship for THEIR TV show. Is it the same situation for the Vikings? I have no idea.

Maybe. You like good beer and hockey though, which puts you evolutionally ahead of them.

There's a difference between thinking that Phil has the right to say whatever his pea brain comes up with and agreeing with his takes such as homosexuality leads to bestiality. He's entitled to free speech but not his own facts.

You see, my "neck" relatives (on the wife's side) have said far worse than the things that Kluwe's coach (allegedly) said. They get the "label" from me that they've earned.


Another difference between Phil and Kluwe is that one is making **** up that disparages a group of people while the other is arguing for equal rights and tolerance. Which one again is the Christian?

I hate to agree with bbdl, but obviously everyone has the freedom of speech...Robertson and Kluwe included. What's ridiculous are the posts on Facebook and Twitter and such. How many of those "Free Phil Robertson" images have been posted, but Kluwe should "shut up and learn to kick?" That's what's wrong with this country.
