Wish Jerry hadn't turned his back. I'd love to have read his lips.:)

Wow. According to Mike Florio, the Chargers should have been penalized on the Succop FG try for an illegal formation. Apparently, you can't have more than six players on one side of center and the Chargers had seven. According to Florio, the NFL acknowledged the error.

eh whatever. didnt seem to have any impact on him missing.

If your fantasy championship is played out in week 17, you probably shouldn't take the league seriously.

This.

And if it makes you feel better, the top 4 scoring teams, and 6 of the top 7 scoring teams, in our league did NOT make the playoffs this year.

As for other forms of gambling, I picked every winner today in the NFL. That was kind of cool. :)

Or you shouldn't play fantasy football because it is the worst thing ever in sports, even worse than NBA basketball.

*Edit - I just see over and over again that fantasy players care more about their fantasy teams than their own team after a while and it bugs me.

It just makes me give a rats' arse about other games. I've watched more Cincy football this year (had Gio, AJ, and their K) than I have previously in my entire life. :o
Edit: And believe it or not, it DOES make you more knowledgable about the sport itself. Who's who, what schemes are going on, etc etc.

I give a rats arse about other games because its football, not because of some stupid fantasy team. And no, being a football fan makes you more knowledgeable about the sport because you care about the sport - now how many points so and so can get you this week.

You really cannot tell me that you would actively watch a CLE-OAK game (unless they are your team) just for the love of football.

Being a football fan and and FFL fan are not mutually exclusive. :p

I know I am probably in the minority here, but growing up all the talk at school or work was about how the local team did. How great they were or how much a bunch of bums they were. Now all I hear about is how many points so and so scored and who they have left in the monday night game. Nothing about what happened to the local favorite team. Fantasy sports of all kinds need to die in a fire.

Yes I would because it is football. I had NFL Sunday ticket until I played a few years of FF. It pretty much killed football for me. Now that I am out of FF, I watch any game that is on again.

For me, it's secondary to seeing good football. To be honest, my FFL team has been out of it for the better of two months, and I still headed up to the ol' watering hole to watch all the games. FFL is an enhancement to the actual sport IMO. Yes, there are nutcases where all they care about is FFL, but from my experience (22 years in FFL now) that a minority.

Edit: That means, using my example, I highly doubt I'd ever turn on a CLE-OAK game, because that usually is just not good football. I don't care if I have players on those teams or not.

Re: 2013 NFL Season. Tebow on the Brady Bunch(en)? Goodell will to all men!

Fantasy football also ruined football for me while I was playing it.

I agree that it made every game watchable coz either I had a player or my opponent did and if not that, maybe another fantasy game was in the balance. Every NFL game became relevant!

Over a few years, this turned into every NFL game became a source of irritation, angst, anger and rage for me. My Sundays were spent yelling at the TV when some dip**** would get tackled on the one or some dumbarse coach would call a pass on 1st and goal from the 1 with my tailback waiting for the handoff. Or maybe a td to my receiver would get called back on a phantom holding call.

The worst though when I was forced to root against certain players on the Pack. "No Favre! Hand the ball off instead!" "No Brooks! Get tackled!"

I was the commish and I also won my league twice (and about $800) and I still got fed up with it. Quit about 15 years ago and don't miss it a bit.

It's beyond stupid that it's covered on SC and sports radio.

This is it exactly, you start focusing more on players instead of teams. You start hoping your own team does not do as good because you don't have them on your fantasy team, and hoping players from teams you despise do well because you do have them. Teams are lost and it is all about your "players". Like Gurt brought up the fact there is a whole industry that popped up because of fantasy sports just really puts it over the edge. Like I said and I stick by it, fantasy sports need to die in a fire.

Re: 2013 NFL Season. Tebow on the Brady Bunch(en)? Goodell will to all men!

Remind me never to play Fantasy Football again. I assembled a great team, went 14-1 and am now going to lose the championship to some schmuck who went 8-7 because half my team took the day off today. ARGH!

This is why you never set up your title game during Week 17.

So because Gurt started focusing more on his FFL players rather than his real life team, it's FFLs fault?

Faulty reasoning there.

Re: 2013 NFL Season. Tebow on the Brady Bunch(en)? Goodell will to all men!

I've caught myself caring too much about specific players, just have to remind myself that FF is secondary to my team and what they need to happen. Week 17 was a ton of fun, not caring about any specific player and focusing on the Packers and what I was hoping would happen with the Saints/49ers/Seahawks.
