Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!
It could be interesting to see what they do at the trade deadline this year. Guys like Ramirez and Lohse could be good sell candidates that help you restock the farm system. I also wonder if selling high on a guy like Gomez would be a smart move, given that he's likely going to command a huge salary after the 2016 season, but will also be 30 and on the decline at that point. I feel like you could get a decent haul for a guy who plays a premium defensive position (very well obviously) and has been a solid bat for a few years now.
One guy I wonder what they will do with is Lucroy. There aren't many great metrics for catchers but from everything I've read he's one of the most underrated in terms of defense and pitch framing etc. Not to mention he can hit. Not sure if catchers are more injury prone though especially into their 30's.
I hear that. The guy is on the decline and it's not like a closer moves this team any closer to contention, not to mention the salary could be better used in other areas.no news is good news, when Papelbon is concerned. Melvin says he has not heard from the Phillies again.
If that's the case, they're not truly looking to contend this year.Mark A. says don't get excited about Shields or Zimmermann - they're not planning on signing a big name starter, but they're definitely looking at closers (obviously).
