Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!
I thought he could hit it once in a while when he needed to, but didn't use it regularly.
Fangraphs "PitchFX" for him says similar:

Straight up fastballs:
2007 - 95.9 Max, 91.6 Avg
2008 - 93.0 Max, 90.5 Avg
2009 - 97.5 Max, 92.3 Avg
2010 - 96.2 Max, 92.6 Avg
2011 - 95.5 Max, 92.6 Avg
2012 - 94.8 Max, 91.7 Avg
2013 - 94.0 Max, 90.7 Avg
2014 - 94.2 Max, 91.4 Avg
I remembered his curve ball being his deadliest pitch to hitters; sure enough according to the stats that was his second favorite go-to pitch until 2012 when the slider became his second favorite. Not sure what's happened to the curve since then, but he's been using that slider more and more.
He hasn't lost much, but his age is starting to hint in those numbers. Maybe he has slight elbow damage and can't throw the curve like he used to, but the damage isn't severe enough to have surgery? Or maybe he's just gotten predictable to the hitters and needs some confidence boost to get his edge back?
