2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

Time to cut the cord with Axford, IMO. Many closers tend to be 1-2 year flashes in the pan and I think it is going to be downhill from here. Does he honestly think he shouldn't be booed? He's pitched terribly. You can't rest on 2011 forever.

Whether the home fans should boo him or not is a different argument than whether he has any value to us on the field any more.

I can't remember a time that I booed a team of mine or a player (from one of my teams). It's chickensh_t.

I disagree with this obviously. Booing can be separate from on-field performance, but IMO, it doesn't have to be. He's been a mediocre pitcher at best for 2012-13, I don't have a problem booing him for pitching so poorly; it is his job after all. If he can't stand the heat, it's time to get out of the kitchen; this isn't Little League.

There's fans who boo and those who don't. I'm in the latter group and frankly, don't respect those who are in the former.

As long as a player is giving his all, I can accept failure. If the guy doesn't belong out there, that's on the coach or manager.

So booing the coach/manager is okay? How do you know who fans are booing? What if they are booing RR's decision to put/leave Axford in there? Were I actually there, I would boo Axford during his horrid performances, just as I cheered him during his previous successes. These guys are pros. They can take the disapproval now and then in exchange for a few million dollars. Like I said, this isn't Little League. Everyone doesn't get a participation trophy, everyone doesn't get to play, and those that play poorly don't get cheered while being told 'Nice effort out there'. Sorry I am missing out on your respect though. ;)

Booing your own players, especially when they are trying to work through things is a d-bag move. You think he doesn't know that he didn't get the job done?

Again, if he's dogging it or doesn't seem to give a ****, that's different. If he gets beat giving his best, what more do you want?

If the fact that he's pulling a check makes you feel like he owes you a pound of flesh to satisfy your disappointment with a loss, power to you.

What do you care what I think anyway? Boo away. Be part of the rabble.

Relax there buddy. I don't care what he thinks, . He's making a ton of money and not doing his job very well. If I was that ineffective at my job, I wouldn't have it very long. So when I boo, I'm booing a combination of his failure, the manager's insistence on playing him, and the GM's reluctance to get rid of him. (That said, tonight would be a great game to put Axford into; I could care less if he stunk tonight.) Not reacting to poor play at critical points, no matter the degree of effort, is turning a blind eye IMO. I don't particularly care what you think either but you keep feeling compelled to implicitly offer your opinion of me ('don't respect those in the former', '...is a d-bag move'), so I felt compelled to reject it. I hope that's okay. :)

Carry on. Hoping for some better results this weekend.

I'll be done with this after pointing out that you said this: "Does he honestly think he shouldn't be booed?"

That's what I was responding to and what started this nice little exchange.

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

Your Milwaukee Brewers home run leader: Yuniesky Betancourt :D

and your NL batting leader: Carlos Gomez  (sorry, Twins fans!) Segura is 4th.

Mark Rogers got pulled from his rehab start with "tingling" in his arm and <a href="http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/rogers-will-have-mri-after-getting-pulled-from-rehab-start-519t9cv-206860121.html">will have an MRI</a>.

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

If it's possible to have a must-win game in May, I think that was it. Great outing by Estrada.

Braun's neck is still bothering him (they didn't say which one :p)

Jean Segura continues to impress and now leads in the NL in batting average (and stolen bases)

If Zack Greinke comes back tomorrow (as rumored, but not decided), he's lined up to pitch in the Tuesday game against the Brewers.

Im going to sunday's game in St. Louis. Man, ticket prices at Busch Stadium are ridiculous. Anyone have some suggestions on where to sit? I found seats out in left field near the brewers bullpen for $50 after fees...

I usually sit further back on the field level, but the upper deck lower rows aren't bad either. It looks like they are using dynamic pricing this year, so tickets are a lot more than the old regular prices. I haven't sat in the seats you're considering.

*sigh*

Well, we were winning that game. At least we still have two more chances to beat up on the Pirates.

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

Greinke's going tonight. Wonder what that will do to the dynamic pricing for Tuesday.

Brewers are working on a long-term contract with Segura.

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

Last place. Yes, even the Cubs are slightly better than the Brewers.

K-Rod called up, Blake Lalli sent down.

Hopefully, K-rod can come up with a timely hit or two. Lalli hasn't set the world on fire, but Alex Gonzalez is currently a waste of space.

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

This is just painful to watch.

And now they play the Cardinals.

On the bright side, K-Rod had a 1-2-3 inning! No hits, though. ;)
