2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Jack may very well be correct. That should surprise absolutely nobody.

From what I've read and heard, the old clubs still do just fine, when properly hit squarely. Where the biggest difference comes into play is when you mis-hit. Today's clubs are much, much more forgiving.

As Jack has said for years, you have to dial back the ball.

I still have a set of Walter Hagen woods (1, 3, 5). The head on the Driver would be today's 3 wood; the 3 wood, a 5 wood; and the 5 wood, a hybrid. Wonder what would happen if I tried to play with them (it's been 40 years since I did)??

Whenever I still pathetically tried to golf, I used my grandpa's Jack Nicklaus real woods set. Trust me, the clubs didn't matter, but I do agree that today's clubs are more forgiving. I hit it farther, but the ball was still way off.

If you hit those old persimmons on the screws, they will give you a lot of distance.

IF.

Parise created golf to prepare us for frustration and tribulation in life.

Didn't help much for .06 though.

It's casually called "Whack-Sh*" for a reason. *whack* "Sh*."

St Andrews is playing soft today. Little rain and a 5-15 mile an hour wind are going to create low scores and one 64 has already been recorded.

Softer than a puppy dog, for now. Rains coming, but it's going to be an exciting day to see who can take advantage.

In other news, David Duval not only made the cut, but is -5 after today's 67. It always seems to happen at The Open, somebody who has been irrelevant in recent times, goes and finds some magic. He was somewhere around 1300 world ranking.

Now with an amateur among 6 at -10. Kid's gonna wish he went pro last week.

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

DJ the only player in the top 63 who is over par today. He needs to get a hit. ;)
And I'm shocked by it. I thought for sure he would tear it up today but his 3rd and 4th rounds in majors have been pretty much average in the past.

Its going to be a fun final round. Dunne in the lead going into round 4 is awesome. Spieth is right there looking for the 3rd leg. Oostyhoozy and Day should be formidable. Then there are about 40 other guys that could end up winning it as well.

£10 for a ticket to the final round. Heck of a bargain!

DJ with a 39 on the front and now is -4. The amateur Dunne is showing his nerves. Bogies first hole and sends his drive way right on the second. Spieth birdies first hole. This is going to be fun to watch unfold.
