2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

He's done dominating, I'll agree for sure - dude is 39 and injured easily. I know the injuries have taken their toll physically, and while everyone knows Tiger has an ironclad mental game, I think when your body doesn't work like it did, the mental game kicks in as well. Regardless, I suspect Tiger has another major in him, we just won't see it until we least expect it - like Jack in '86.

I highly doubt it. I'm not a great golfing mind, but many have caught up to him. He shows flashes of greatness now and then, but I think his athletic (and social) life have caught up with him enough to bury him.

I would be shocked if he won another major let alone a regular tourney. He could put the fear of God into golfers in the past but those days are long gone.

While it's true that Tiger's style has been copied by a lot of freshies, I think his game will also by copied by his close students, who will put the pressure on. That said, Tiger is not one to lay down (insert joke here).

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

I played in a scramble yesterday with my old beer league hockey team. We had some mini challenges throughout the course - closest to the hole, longest putt, longest drive and closest to the hole on a par 5 - and I somehow won two of the challenges. I snagged the longest drive and closest to the hole on a par 5. My longest drive win was on a technicality because the drive had to be on the fairway and it turns out that I was literally the only player to put the ball on the fairway, and that was only because I duffed it for ~50 yd drive. Closest to the pin on a 5 was a legit win, chipping it to about 4 ft from the hole on a fairly long chip ~30yds. The winner of each event took home a commemorative puck, a classy prize of an old, chewed up puck with a "Rubes Day 2015 Winner" stuck to it. I was humbled and brought to tears by the generosity of these esteemed trophies.

I used to think so. Now I think he's to the point where his body is shot, physically. The social part is nothing more than jibberish fodder for the magpies in the media to run their lips apart. The man's body simply can't hold up at this point.

For the social part of the equation, I was thinking it affects him mentally. Takes his mind off the game.

I get that. But even so, his body cannot respond.

Definitely agree there. Someone on GPL brought up that his game started failing when he started getting really ripped. I can't form an opinion on it, since I don't pay that close attention....

Well, his knee crumbled at the US Open one year. The year he beat Rocco in the playoff. He hasn't been the same since that tournament.

I do remember that. And I agree.

Dottie Pepper just tore Tiger about 3 fresh buttholes in about 6 minutes just now on ESPNews.

Looks like Woods put that round of 85 behind him. -3 after 12 this morning.

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Woods ends up at +2 for the day. He played hole18 at 8 over par for the tourney. Ouch.

Is it just me, or is the USGA using Chamber's Bay as a total mind-******* for the players? I'm interested to see how this course plays tomorrow... Basically seems like it's gonna play like a British Open, but with a crap ton of length and the severe penalties for wayward shots...

The greens are crazy too. This will be very interesting. I'm going with a dark horse. Kuchar.

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

This will be an interesting Open considering the quirky course they are playing. Some big scores can be had on some holes. Here is to hoping North Dakota native Tom Hoge can make the cut. Tiger is at 60-1 odds of winning it. Not gonna happen.

Website says he was born in N. Carolina and attended Texas Christian. What is his NoDak connection? Move there at a young age?
