2013 frozen four ticket changes!!

Re: 2013 frozen four ticket changes!!

If they really did have to solicit ticket requests, I would think that a P3 would be good enough. If there were more tickets than requests, there would have been no reason to run a lottery at all, so effectively the new system would have been the same as the old system with regard to who gets tickets.

Well, I completely forgot to put in my application for Tampa and actually got an email about a second signup period. However, I think that was more due to the venue. I've been to the arena for Lightning games and, although their fans are very enthusiastic, they don't know icing from a hand pass. I doubt the NC$$ Tourney is going to be a big, or even small, draw from locals. The Rays also have their home opener that weekend and the tickets at the Trop are cheap and plentiful, which will draw many of the would-be sports fans.

I would imagine Pittsburgh will be a whole different animal. That's a hockey town and close enough to enough college hockey fans and programs that it will sell out easily. I've been unlucky enough to get tickets for every FF that is a flight for me, yet none that have been within driving distance. At least I have free lodging in Tampa for the weekend, thanks to a college buddy.

Re: 2013 frozen four ticket changes!!

Since this thread caught my eye... is there a link I can go to so I can get my Priority #? Been going to the Frozen Four now since Columbus (skipped one year) and have lost track of what my number would be.

And I might as well say it - GO River Hawks !!!!

Well, here's hoping your fears are unwarranted, and that the worst you have to complain about is your seat selection.

I'll find a ticket for Pittsburgh somehow; there's always tickets available online (usually from Gofer fans upset their team didn't make it). However, I'd certainly like my ticket purchase to contribute to upping my priority, not someone else's. Hey, maybe I'll be able to get my ticket from the participating team contingent from Clarkson (forever the optimist).

Re: 2013 frozen four ticket changes!!

For years I have been complaining about seat allocation. They seem to think (basketball mentality) that lower is better.

Completely agree. Some years, my seats have been in the first row, and it kind of sucks (and I'm not even counting Detroit!) Last year, we actually used the seats that were further away. It'll be nice for the fans get to pick what THEY consider "good" seats - and not leave it up to some suit at the NCAA that's never actually attended a hockey game.

Re: 2013 frozen four ticket changes!!

I would still like them to return to the old 3 ticket style so we could go out in the town for a nice dinner on the Thursday ..... They keep using the TV as an excuse but it is obvious this year that TV could care less about hockey

Exactly right. When one of the semi-finals is now relegated to ESPNU status, it's time to start thinking about the fans before TV. Can't imagine it would make any difference in their ratings if they moved the 1st game up to Noon or 1pm instead of 4:30, when there's not enough time inbetween the games to get something to eat.

Re: 2013 frozen four ticket changes!!

New ticket process announced. Fans will no longer have to submit Frozen Four application.

The ticket purchase process, approved by the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Committee, will now be conducted beginning Oct. 1 and will no longer involve submitting an application for the opportunity to purchase tickets. Instead, ticket purchasers will be invited to purchase tickets, based on their priority level, and select their own seat locations at the time of the order submission.

I followed the link and got to the registration form to receive info regarding the purchasing process for those without a priority number (first-time applicants). The entry fields appear to be set up to accept only US addresses - when I tried to enter my Canadian postal code in the "zip code" box it was rejected as invalid. I suppose I could simply use the mailing address of a friend/family member who lives in the US along with my email address here north of the border to get information. Does anyone know how someone from Canada can apply for tickets? I'd really like to go to Pittsburgh as my first Frozen Four after following NCAA hockey for many years. I've attended a Regional tournament each year since 2006 and figure it's time to graduate to the Frozen Four weekend with Pittsburgh being only a 5-6 hour drive for me.

I think there are many on these boards who are very well-informed about how someone like me (first time buyer; from Canada) would go about applying for or purchasing FF tickets. Any information would be appreciated!

Re: 2013 frozen four ticket changes!!

You could try to send an email to mensfrozenfour@ncaa.org They may be able to help you. I had to send them an email address change so I would be notified in Oct. Just explain your situation. Good luck.

Jaws - I've sent an email to the address you've suggested with my questions. I hope I get a response.

Thanks from a long-time NCAA fan from north of the border!

Re: 2013 frozen four ticket changes!!

My concern with the new system... I guess there will be some type of pass code for the early ticket purchases. What's to stop the higher priorites from sharing the pass code, thereby leaving long time supporters out of decent seats, or any seat at all?

I hope the NCAA does this right to protect all of the priority numbers.

Not sure why they'd need a pass code. I assume that you'll just log in with your identification number like you always have, and the system will know whether you're eligible to buy tickets at that time. Then they can limit the purchase to four like they always have.

Like I said... I hope they do this right.
