More outstanding clock management from LSU. 3rd and goal from the 2 with :15 before halftime. Delay of game coming out of their own timeout, then false start, then removing the helmet results in a runoff ending the half. But LSU is rescued because the officials are even more clueless. Then they call an unsportsmanlike against TCU for removing a helmet even though the ref just told him it was halftime. Bizarre. LSU makes the field goal and leads 16-10 at the half.

I know northern illinois has a good program but ferentz could be in trouble this year

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

Georgia has a horrible snap on a chip shot field goal that would have knotted the score at 31. Instead, it's 31-28 Clemson through 3. Will we see 13 points in the 4th quarter?

I just saw that. 2009 was a long time ago. He was certainly on the hot seat coming into the season, and it just got hotter.

I'd say you're looking good now

We'll see. Teams might be too gassed to do anything. Hopefully, Clemson is able to take the ball down and score a TD to get the lead to 10 and the total to 66. Then a pick 6 on GA's next possession would be perfect. :p:D:D

Northern Iowa knocks off Iowa State.

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

I really wish Boyd would quit throwing the ball to Bryant...he's just completely off tonight. Big third down here...

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

Oh boy...under review, but that should be a touchdown.

EDIT: TOUCHDOWN!!!

7:40 left. 66 Points scored. Yikes!

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

The Gophers learned that lesson for the entire conference.

I think Michigan had a little something to do with it too.

Speaking of Ranked FBS teams that have choked against FCS schools, Eastern Washington's victory over #25 Oregon State was the first win by an FCS team over a ranked FBS team since 2010.

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

Whew! That was close. I think the Clemson D-Coordinator also bet on the over given the way Clemson played D on that last GA drive.

I'll take the over and Clemson straight up for a nice little payday! :)

The money will be there if he keeps losing.

Also, depending on the how the contract was written and keeping in mind that mitigation would likely come into play, Iowa wouldn't be on the hook for the entire amount. Ferentz has 6 years remaining on his contract after this season. The buyout requires him to be paid 75% of his base, which is $2.07m on the high end (we'll use the high end numbers for this hypothetical). Over the next six seasons, Ferentz would make $12.42m in base salary. 75% of that is $9,315,000. I don't know where the article is getting the $18m and change for the buyout (they appear to be using bonuses and the like)...simply not the case...unless they were wrong about his buyout being a percentage of base salary (highly unlikely). Assuming that the contract includes mitigation language (and potentially even if it does not), that amount would go down as well if Ferentz were to find another job. Even as a decent coordinator in D-1, he likely pulls in somewhere in the $500k-$1m range. Over six seasons, that brings down that $9,315,000 down to somewhere around 3-4.5m. Again, not chump change, but if he's losing, the money will be there.
