Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

In an ever stranger world, this story is just unbelievable.

And apparently Notre Dame knew about this going back to at least December 26th according to reports, but didn't say anything "because it was Teo's story". How embarrassing on multiple levels.

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

Yep, he enhanced the total lie and enjoyed living that life/getting the attention.

He could have put an end to the reports, that he met her, etc

He didn't. He's clearly a liar and a fraud. You don't need to wait for more information to draw that conclusion. The facts are indisputable and comparing this to duke lacrosse is laughable.

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

Even if he genuinely, sincerely, 100% believed that she was a real person (incredibly unlikely), he was still the one feeding BS details to the media (or to other friends and family who then fed them to the media). Either way, he was lying - to me, it doesn't make any difference whether he was lying about a girl he thought was real or about a girl he thought was fake.

Because of the craziness of this whole thing it won't shock me if we find out he was involved or his parents were involved. One thing that is interesting to me...the conventional wisdom is that they have to be lying because they said they met her...when people google to find those quotes (such as his dad saying he met her) the quotes don't exist. It is a string of suggestions, innuendo, supposition, repeating other people's words etc.

What details did he feed to the media that he knew were false?

I've dealt with people who have had their life savings stolen from them by fraud, and they completely believed they were not at risk and doing the right thing as somebody stole all their money from under their nose. They don't call them con men for nothing...they gain your confidence and the 'art' is having you do the work for them. And their victims arent all old ladies.

Didn't Nowitzki come within days of marrying somebody who was not who they appeared to be? How many agents and agent's assistants and lawyers represent that guy and it was almost to the point of marriage. How many people join cults or Scientology?

After the fact, it is all so painfully obvious that they shouldn't have trusted the person, they should have put 2+2 together and gotten 3 etc. But that is the twisted beauty of this to the con man...historically it was about the money but this new version is about the thrill of leading somebody on and using the power of suggestion to have them become the biggest conveyor of the ruse.

JD - you have been and always will be a small minded twit. The Duke lacrosse reference was to the 'you believe one thing and then the next day you believe something else' aspect. The initial reaction to this, universally, was that Te'o had to be behind it. 12 hours later it isn't confirmed he did or didn't but the story certainly has taken a turn...I had never heard of catfishing until last night.

It is possible ND was too quick to come to his defense...I would hope for them that they had somebody other than an AD talk to the parents and determine if this was a hoax. Golic was more than just guarded today...you would think if his sons thought this was a complete hoax on Manti, he would know that and be more supportive. When he didn't reference any of that I thought "there might be a message that the team either knew it was false or suspected it was". Maybe he closed in a more supportive manner but that first message wasn't reassuring.

To me, a lot of my current opinion is based on the assumption that ND wouldn't come out so strongly and support him if they knew he knew...but like I said, although their AD is an ex-lawyer, I have no idea how capable he is of interviewing people and finding out if they are lying. The firm ND hired sounds like more of a technology firm...not necessarily a private investigating firm. They also wrapped up their work in 8 days if they presented on the 4th. Seems brief to me.

If the perpetrator is his cousin, there will be photos and communication between them...that won't prove Te'o was in on the hoax. Time will tell though, no way they can keep the whole truth about their involvement away from this storm of media and investigators.

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

Ha, because I often disagree with you? That must be why...

There never should have been a Duke lacrosse reference to begin with. It's just stupid on any and every level no matter how you want to spin it.

There were well publicized stories of him having met this girl, etc. Stories that he knew about. He didn't shoot any of it down. He went along for the ride. It's as clear as day.

By all means though, please provide us with another one of your novels. What a windbag.

think about what that question really means.

For the stuff to the media, the answer is either all or nothing- that was big info.

Both answers don't speak all that highly of him. And, quite franly, one does add up all that well.

But, I'm not going to be the one giving him a salary, nor have I emphasized him while on TV (NBC). So this will be interesting.

No, it is because you are an idiot. Plenty of smart people disagree with each other...but you aren't in those conversations...and you never will be.

I'm not as surprised as most seem- at the beginning of the season, it was pretty clear that he didn't want the job at Arkansas- too much pressure, too much attention, too much, well, everything. Maybe the D2 part was more surprising, but moving way down isn't- he's made his money, it's time to get back and enjoy coaching.

Isn't he in some kind of crazy 25 million dollar debt?

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

Don't they play them every year? Unless they stopped the series it'll be in Palo Alto next year.

The @Stanford game will be on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, which is its typical date for the @Stanford game. The @ND game is usually earlier in the season but can move around. The band's kinda lost its edge in the last few years after being suspended during 2006, so I don't know if they'll do anything with this.

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

There are sick people out there, and the internet has increased their opportunities to feed their sickness by many orders of magnitude.
case in point, see the D1 boards here.

Beats me. If he is, he's not going to be making it at Fort Lewis. Of the top of my head here, they probably operate their whole football department for probably just under a million. Travel, scholarships, coaches, training staff and the rest of the support staff.

I already forgot where I first saw this, but it's great.

The only idiots I see here are the poor fools who can't even admit that teo is clearly a liar and let false reports about the relationship exist.

Not anymore, I think he went bankrupt. Former Michigan State lineman Arthur Ray Jr. just transferred to Fort Lewis College the day before JLS was hired. Ray wasn't a JLS recruit but still a fun tidbit.

Dan Patrick poll today had 81% of people thinking Te'o was in on the hoax.

So what if he did?

Seriously, why are you in such a high dudgeon about the idea that he embellished some aspects of the relationship?

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

So what if he did? Seriously? Spoken like a true ND ballwasher.

At the very least, people should be able to admit the basic facts. Beyond that, my problem is he received a ton of publicity and condolences for this when he could have put an end to all of it. He's a fraud.

Some aspects? Really?
