Oregon only has one loss too. I think they should be National Champions.

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

Give Saban that much time to prepare and I don't think Oregon would have stood a chance either.

kelly's comments about feeling they needed to go for a TD on 4th and 5 from the 35 because they needed to take some chances says to me that he may have panicked more than the kids did. Mind you, nothing should have made anyone think of victory at that point but when a 1st down could be huge towards slowing the game down, maybe getting a FG and at least getting something positive, he ran 3 go routes and tossed one up for grabs.

kelly said before the game that the team that made the most mistakes would win...they had to take a lot of chances...not only was that wrong but it played into the hands of the more confident, solid team. During pre-game, Urban Meyer made a face when that line was repeated...like "that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard".

there is a difference between taking a chance on 2 and 2 from mid-field in a tight game and throwing caution to the wind, literally when you are hanging on for dear life. Almost every team in America would run one of those pick play routes and try to get somebody open for 5.01 yards. Sometimes they call it conventional wisdom because it is correct.

Again, wouldn't mean they would win but it could slow the game down, give Alabama one less possession in the first half and maybe get you 3 points. Too early to completely panic.
Further more, why were they going after Alabama's top corner an an All American.

It would have been a very similar game. Oregon couldn't handle Stanford's defense, and I don't see how their defense stops Lacy, Cooper, McCarron, and Yeldon, especially with their offensive line. And like you said...give Saban a month to prepare...

Welcome to recruiting season, folks. May your players be getting bigger, stronger, and faster, and may your coaches be successfully selling your program to high school kids and their families.

Probably. But, we'll never know for sure.

The Deadspin comments are classic.

I'm not so sure I buy that Lennay isn't dead. I saw the way Manti T'eo dealt with AJ McCarron, and I think he'd be able to recognize a spookily-white creature constantly dragging chains.

Come to think of it, has anybody even seen this "Hawaii"?

So, she was a metaphor for the Irish's title chances all along?

Holy Crap. Was anyone else shocked when they heard Marques Tuiasosopo was a 2nd rounder?

Oh, and also this: She's back from the dead!!!!

Crazy theory being floated on Reddit: Te'o is gay and made up the girlfriend to placate his ultraconservative Mormon family.

Where's Rod Serling when you need him?

Someone on Twitter wondered if this was going to be the plot for "Weekend at Bernie's 3"

My favorite:

So which is more made up, Teo's girlfriend or his goalline stop of Stepfan Taylor?

Yeah, that sounds like the politically correct idea... I'd think its more for football and ND consumption... Even Mormons will chat up a cute girl. My guess is that this a multiple birds one stone deal.

After all, if he's refusing to date anybody then it'd be a dead giveaway.

Blaming religious family... Certainly could be a factor but it smells like a round of "whack the Christians" to me... The "smart" people are incredibly easy to predict.

Thing is, even now the best action is to pretend it all away as hope it blows over
