SCOUTING REPORT SCSU
Last year I saw St. Cloud take apart Notre Dame in what I recall was the first round of the NCAA tournament. They were extremely fast, always the first to the puck and the 5-1 score was not indicative of what a one sided game it was. The consensus is that this year they are better.
On paper they have the numbers:
SCSU 1.79/3.71 delta = 1.92
UNION 2.62/3.94 delta = 1.32
PP UNION 24.71 SCSU 18.97
PK UION 77.00 SCSU 84.50
PM UNION 13.44* SCSU 8.79
Faragher .927 / 1.9088
Stevens .902 / 2.2618
Based on todays USCHO POLL
We played and won all four of our games against ranked opponents
SCSU split with Miami, their only ranked opponent
Three of SCSU wins and a tie come from Alabama Huntsville (1-15-0) and Colorado College (2-10-3) combined record of 3-25-3
Three of our wins come from teams with a combined record of 9-29-2
Shots per game
UNION 34.1 (7th)
SCSU 33.4 (9th)
Common Opponent
SCSU beat Colgate 4-2 and 4-3
UNION lost to Colgate 5-3
Based on todays pairwise standings we have had a tougher schedule but not by much. SOS favors SCSU by a little (USCHO). CHN SOS favors SCSU by alot.
SCSU most recently has a great weekend sweep against Minnesota Duluth
SCSU is undefeated on Saturdays
UNION is undefeated on the Road
What impact is the big rink going to have? Will Ghost be turned loose to skate?

I am still celebrating our 16 points going into the break, going 8-1 in the ECAC. Outstanding !!!! We still need to face St. Lawrence (2), Clarkson (2), Cornell in Ithaca, Brown(2), Q, and Yale(2) but for now its time to kick back and enjoy the holidays. Really enjoyed Pontarelli's response about the opportunity to play the #1 team in the nation. The freshman are on a high.

* all the fights at the end of the RPI game and the 110 penalty minutes did not help our numbers. We have to stay out of the penalty box

Alternatively, SCSU has video streams of the games for $7.95 each. I have no idea how the quality is. Maybe someone here does?

My experience with stretchinternet has been very good but the quality is dependent on each site, the camera equipment used and the quality of the feed to the server. This is why RPI TV is so good. This is also why Union is so bad. We use consumer grade cameras and inexpensive feeds (low bandwidth) to minimize athletic department expense. My plan is to work with the athletic department to improve this. Professional grade cameras are not that much more expensive, are capable of shooting in low light and artifical light conditions in HD and higher quality feeds would make a world of difference.

Read somewhere that over the summer St. Cloud State has upgraded their production facilities with state of the art broadcasting (HD) equipment for hockey and other sports, never watched hockey on the internet but I will tonight . Game has me excited especially on the wider rink. Should be a fun weekend. SCSU is playing well and so are we , so good luck to the Dutchmen.

I'm glad to hear St. Cloud State has quality streaming. With the exception of RPI TV (which was excellent quality) the steaming has been very lackluster from the schools we've played. I mean, it's 2013, time for everybody to get HD cameras lol

Nothing in the press back here .... this is the first we are hearing about it. Alex is our freshman backup. Stevens might have been hurt in the Darmouth game. It was pretty rought. Thats just a guess. Since we are playing with our backup goalie, SCSU has to spot us 4 points

At one point Wednesday it looked like Colin's hand might have been bothering him but that's just speculation. My guess is that it's more a matter of not wanting him to play 5 games in 8 days. He is not a big guy and might need a game off. I hope it's that and not injury.
