2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

I think the school has put the team on the back burner for the week and aren't doing there regular events due to the time required for the women's frozen four

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Enjoy Lake Placid!
The enjoyment level will be proportionate to the on-ice performance. I want to come home with tired arms and no voice! ;)

As I always say on hockey road trips "I'm here for the hockey". I did see some info online about the Museum and probably will check it out. If the weather forecast is accurate, any other sightseeing will probably not happen.

Hope to see you next weekend!

That's understandable. I'm sure the WFF is consuming tremendous resources at all levels. I just hope I'm not the only one wearing blue and gold.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

I have to admit that I'm hoping JST steps up this weekend and makes us all forget Kevin Bui! ;)

I've been on the fence about JST all season but he really opened my eyes last weekend against Yale. Solid play at both ends of the ice and the game/series winner on Saturday. As Rand says, he definitely makes us a different team.

On another note... it's been awfully quiet in here all week. A huge weekend looms and hardly a word has been uttered.

That said, I'll ask again if anyone else is heading north? I'll be leaving Friday morning and have been curious about what there is to do in Placid when there's no hockey. Can anyone recommend a good place to grab a late lunch/early dinner on Friday? Any local pubs worth visiting (keeping in mind I'm not a drinker)? I haven't seen anything myself, but is there any kind of formal QU gathering being planned anywhere? Questions, questions, questions...

My priority for the weekend is the hockey. The forecast seems to be for snow all day Saturday (3-5") so I'm not sure how that will affect getting out to have a look around the village. It's my understanding that the Main St area around the arena is where all the good stuff is... can anyone confirm/expound on that?

Hey Mark, I always go to the 90 meter ski jump, there's an elevator that takes you to the top, glassed in and the view is awesome, sometimes the jumpers are actually practicing right in front of you, very cool. There are tons of cafe's, restaurants and exclusive stores for the wife(expensive). The 1932 rink is right next to the current rink, actually connected I think. Believe me, you will have fun.

Wednesday recruit stats

AJHL

Andrew Taverner had 1 assist but Sherwood Park lost 4-3 and the series is tied at 2 games apiece.

Thanks, shabby. Are you planning to be there? Haven't seen you in a couple of years and it would be nice to catch up.

(fortunately, I'm leaving the wife home! ;) )

Sam Anas is the ECAC rookie of the year and also made the 2nd team ECAC with Kellen Jones.

Game day in Lake Placid!

I'll be on the road in a few heading for what I hope to be a great weekend of hockey for the Bobcats. I'm sure the sting of last years Atlantic City debacle still hurts the upperclassmen and should provide some incentive to make a difference.

To anyone else heading north, safe travels and we'll see you at the game.

Go Q!

Yes...Say hello, and Good Luck !

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

I'm looking for the boys to come out flying and crashing the net. Can't settle for shots like we did last time against them. Also Finn has a weak glove so we HAVE to take advantage of that. Let's play the Bobcat brand of hockey and we should put ourselves in a position to win. I am guessing Federico is going to play as he traveled with the team but only time will tell.

Safe travels everyone

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

After last years disappointment in the ECAC semifinal I could really see QU come out strong tonight. The onslaught of goals against Yale last weekend was a good sign.

Garteig remains my primary concern as he really seemed to give up some softies this year that let teams back into games. With the Olympic ice and more room for the Colgate offense to operate, gotta figure the D won't be getting in front of as many shots as they usually do.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Greetings from Lake Placid! Been here since 10 am. Just checked into my room after going to the arena and watching both 'Gate and QU practice. The rink is beautiful and feels like hockey. Much better than Atlantic City (then again, my basement is better than AC). Heading back out in a few to go watch some ECAC Championship hockey!

Go Q!

Don't know about the Go Q part, but have fun up there Mark. It is a wonderful town, a wonderful atmosphere and I am glad the tournament is back there. My team unfortunately is going backward at the moment as we lost a key piece to leaving early this week.

Have a great time up there and may the best team win. (Whoever that might be!!)

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Federico is back in the lineup so were at full strength at the right time. Looking forward to tonight

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Obviously disappointing.

On the up side, the ECAC will have 3 teams and we will be in Bridgeport by all my calculations. Got to have a good week of practice and be ready to go Friday in Bridgeport
