Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Just scored tickets through the Alumni for Friday and Saturday. Pregame reception Friday is Barnum Publick House, 1020 Broad Street, Bridgeport, Conn.

Sounds like space is limited at the pregame reception so registration through the alumni association is needed to get in there... not that they'd deny anyone at the door (I'd think), but I have seen these alumni gatherings where people are standing on the street waiting to get in when the host location is small.

That's where the Union pre-game reception is on Friday as well. I wonder who reserved it for Saturday..

You guys are always free to come rage in Black Rock beforehand :)

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

I have work Friday and another morning news shift Saturday so I'll need a Friday win if dad and I are going to make it. Bright side is if QU loses we'll just head to Worcester for more hockey. Obviously I'd rather be in Bridgeport. And yes that is the first time anyone has said "Obviously I'd rather be in Bridgeport."

Andrew Taverner's season comes to an end last night in a 5-2 loss in Game 7. He had an assist in the game.

Finishes the regular season with 28 goals and 34 assists in 54 games while in the playoffs he had 6 goals and 8 assists in 9 games. I expect him to be in Hamden in the fall with fellow AJHL player Tanner MacMaster. The other AJHL recruit Nelson Gadoury is someone who I think should be kept back in the AJHL one more season.

You can't make this stuff up

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>So much for home-state advantages. And something I found interesting:

We had a fight on Monday, a fight on Tuesday and a fight on Wednesday."</p>— Chip Malafronte (@ChipMalafronte) <a href="https://twitter.com/ChipMalafronte/statuses/449293001777770496">March 27, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I like the fighting. Shows to me they all know what's at stake each and everyday. Hope to see those guys show up this weekend

Game day in Bridgeport!

Hopefully the fights in practice and lack of toilet paper have inspired the boys to take care of business on the ice today. It's all one-and-done from here so they can't afford to take any shifts off. Go out and get it done.

The seniors need to step up a lead by example. The underclassmen need to play hard and smart. Everyone needs to do their job.

One shift. One period. One game.

BEAT PROVIDENCE!

Go Q!

Good luck Q-Pac this weekend. Not sure the fights are a good thing though.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Good luck tonight. Regardless of the outcome it should be a great game between two evenly matched teams. I rooted for you guys a year ago and now it will be cool to see both teams go at it. All the best.

Out of the frying pan and into the FRIAR

Go Bobcats!

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats Part II: The final push towards Philadelphia

Quick fact: These guys faltered big-time down the stretch, mainly due to a season-long goaltending problem. They're just 4-5-1 in the last 10 games, and it's not because they're not scoring. The team is fourth in the country in goals-for at 141.

Not sure I agree with that at all. Garteig's SV% isn't up there with top goalies but Quinnipiac's team defense has been very good at times where he doesn't see a ton of shots. In 39 games he has seen 842 shots compared with Connor Hellebuyck of Lowell who is 12 less games has 820 shots. QU's defense covers up a bit for some of Garteig's struggles at times but to say it is a season long struggle is laughable.
