Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

I'd be fine if UNH keeps ducking us. We already have one rival in New Haven, no need to bring the Chargers into the mix.

You're clever.

Happy Thanksgiving, Bobcats! Unfortunately I won't be able to see the great ballgame tonight but I will be back in the house Saturday, hopefully. Need some good rebound efforts this week to get the bad taste out of our mouths from Saturday. That was not one of the season's better special teams efforts -- well, efforts in general.

Saturday was this season's AIC... and we all know what happened after that debacle. ;)

Good luck tonight !!!!

You belong at the top of the USCHO rankings and now is a chance to prove it !!!!
There is a reason that Quinnipiac has the best record in College Hockey, you earned it and deserve it !!!
If you play against Providence, as you usually play against us, it will be no contest.

Big week for the ECAC in and out of conference (OOC) play. The ECAC leads College Hockey on OOC games with the highest winning percentage. We are also the only league that against which, the HE has a loosing record. I think we still have something to prove. BC fans think so when they claim "it was just one good year, ... so what"

Harvard and Cornell got us going this weekend with wins over New Hampshire and Niagara. Can we keep it going?

Quinnipiac vs Providence and UMass
Princeton vs Michigan State (2)
St. Lawrence vs N. Dakota (2)
Cornell vs BU
Brown vs. Providence
Union vs Penn State (2)
Yale vs Merrimack
Clarkson vs Queens?

Two years ago I had to sit and listen to 60 minutes of abuse, ridicule and scorn from 600 UML fans in the second round of the NCAA tournament with their cry's of, among other things, EASY-AC.

This is a great week for payback.

North Dakota State got a hockey team now? When did they add a program?

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

In all seriousness, we all know how much I hate New Hampshire and everything that stink hole represents.

I'll bite, what exactly is "everything that stink hole represents?"

I swear to you, I was leaving the Whit last week and it actually smelled like horse crap outside.

Imagine that, given the horse barns are just a couple hundred yards away. Regrettable perhaps, but it kinda adds to the vet program to have some, you know, ANIMALS around. You managed to find a rare day, the wind is seldom from that direction. Sorry if nature offends you.

Been away from the thread for a whole, hope everyone is doing well.

First off, I hope CanadaKen and Whitecaps Nation are happy with the Timbers loss to RSL. I know Larson, Thx and myself have taken the loss rough (especially Thx, heard he is still going through Timbers withdrawal).

As for tonight, super excited to watch some Bobcats hockey from the comfort of my couch instead of hunched over with eyes glared on a computer screen. Hopefully there is a solid local turnout tonight so all the millions in the NY market get a taste of the home ice advantage at the Bank.

Looking forward to a solid game. Tolks being hurt certainly hurts this defense (as we have seen over the last couple of weeks), but as we saw last year, this team responds well to adversity. Saturday was rough, no doubt, but I'm looking forward to a nice bounce back tonight.

Geaux Bobcats!

Tolks and Derek Smith back in the lineup tonight. That's a great sign. Defense can't give any away tonight

Mark, At your festive gathering tomorrow if people ask you to carve the turkey don't think of it as work. Think of it as everyone having given you the bird.:D

Happy Thanksgiving. And remember a double scotch goes well with pecan pie. ;)

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Schvatz, if you don't cut the Geaux Bobcats crap, we're gonna have problems when you return for Maine.

I actually got a chance to watch tonight's game from home. Quinnipiac dominated that game and only came away with a tie. These terrible turnovers in the defensive zone have to stop. That's what lost Saturday's Princeton game, and that's what prevented a win over the No. 4 team in the country tonight. Plus, a bad call on the second penalty to create that 5-on-3 didn't help matters. Aside from the opening-night loss, Quinnipiac has outplayed everyone its played -- and doesn't have all the wins to show for it.

Jon Gillies is freaking incredible. Quinnipiac's three goals were gorgeous and nobody would have had them.

Happy Thxgiving!

I'm not surprised, but cripes you guys are good! Best of luck the rest of the season.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

It was fun to see the Friars face off with a top team tonight. Maybe we will see you again in the spring.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

PC is the best team we have faced all year. They are the real deal with Jon Gillies back there.i did think Providence outplayed us a bit in the first period but got better from there. Need to stop with the brutal defensive zone turnovers. I'll take a tie against a very good team like this.

Look Thx, I know you are still upset at the Timbers loss, but no need to take it out on the Larson-initiated #lsqu campaign. Porterball will be back next year.

Anywho, can this team just stop with the defensive zone turnovers? Please? As Thx astutely pointed out, this team deserved to win every game since the season opener in Alaska, and only their own miscues have led to two ties and another loss. Oh, and two straight third period leads blown at home. Not good.

Nothing about Providence (save Gillies [pun intended]) really impressed me tonight. QU was the better team, but a couple horrid turnovers and a bad penalty nullified that. Oh well, that's hockey I suppose.

Still was nice to watch the game in HD on SNY, thoughI do have to say I think Schweizer had a real weak broadcast. Sounded like a combination of no prep work and a radio-broadcaster not transitioning well to TV. Too many times it seemed like a conscious decision was made to not describe the action too much, and the byproduct was awkward silence. I'm probably being a little too critical here, but I'm hoping for a better broadcast on SNY Saturday.

Happy thanksgiving everyone! Go Bobcats!

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

It was a hard fought tie that should have been a win. Those turnovers have been costly. Tonight, they battled back from it and I thought outplayed PC for a large part of the game. Another stupid penalty from Connor Clifton cost us that game. The first call on Hibbs was legit (even if a little weak) but Clifton's was blatant and uncalled for. He's lucky he didn't get called for slew-footing. The resulting kill on the 5 on 3 was doing well but the odds weren't in our favor.

On the plus side, I thought all 3 of our goals were beauty's. Anas continues to amaze me and congrats to Toews on his first. Peca... what can be said? He took Gillies to school and then some. The bad, besides the turnovers, was another 2 or 3 open nets missed, the last a gaper in OT that St. Denis just shanked.

A couple of days to rest and then the Minutemen on Saturday.

To all my fellow Bobcat fans I hope you have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving.

You are correct, Mark, the goals were BEAUTIES…….but they still count for only one apiece; reminiscent of the Yale game on 11/9 in more ways than merely the identical score. Happy Thanksgiving to
ALL hockey fans in the capital of college hockey, Bulldog and Bobcat fans alike. I hope I get to buy you dinner in Philly next April !!!

Do those Thanksgiving wishes go to non-Bobcat fans as well???

Got to watch on TV. An impressive performance and I thought you outplayed the Friars for the majority of the game. Difference in the game was Gillies in net for PC. The one thing I didn't enjoy about the broadcast is I am assuming just like on NESN games it is Quinnipiac buying the air time as opposed to SNY wanting to broadcast the game. As such...the "infomercial" for what makes Q Pac so "special" during the Intermission made me want to puke. Just sayin'!!!! But I suppose that is how/why you are getting all the recruits and players you are as no other ECAC school markets their program or spends money to market it like you guys do. I guess that is to your credit....but if they can lay off talking about the Quinnipiac "brand" so much I might be able to tolerate the broadcasts.

Happy Thanksgiving anyway Mark and if you have an extra goalie you can send our way we'll take him. (We need one badly at the moment.)

That Side Street Grill you guys recommended was good and they had free wings since we got there early enough! Good times even though QU screwed up our tickets.
