Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Don't pay such close attention yet - right now, that's one bad loss out of 15 games. By the time tournament selection rolls around, it will be one bad loss out of ~38 (assuming Q makes it to the ECAC championship game), so its impact will be much less. Just take care of business, and you'll be fine.

This team lost to AIC last year and was the No. 1 overall seed by a mile. These things will even out by the end of the season.

No kidding. Not to mention a handful of other losses to teams of varying quality.

College Hockey Inc. has G Sean Lawrence committed for the 2014-15 campaign.

My goodness Saturday was just a horrible collapse. Sky isn't falling but I've only seen Harvard and Princeton Home this season and the good guys have looked relatively disinterested in both.

Plenty of time to right the ship but hope our backline instills some confidence as the year goes on. Really shaky right now and Hibbeler is taking shifts at D since he's more trusted right now.

Will settle for watching Providence on SNY if I'm able to make it back to NJ in one piece but here's hoping we do a better of staying motivated the whole way through.

That's likely due to Tolkinen's injury. Keep in mind that Hibbs was a defenseman in juniors so he knows what he's doing. Plus, he's probably the gutsiest kid we have on the team. In my opinion, he's the perfect captain too... leads by example.

If they can't get up for a top-5 match-up there's definitely a problem. However, I think we'll see a feisty bunch of Bobcats. ;)

Interesting tidbits from Chip Malafronte about future schedules.

Heard all 3 of those teams from Riga at the alumni event 2 weeks ago. It still ****es me off teams like BC, BU and UNH have ducked us for awhile. Well it still will be nice to see multiple games close by living in the Boston area.

They can't duck forever. My guess is that we'll face each of them within the next 3-5 years unless another major conference shuffle occurs.

From what I have heard these schools don't even return Quinnipiac's calls for potential games. I'm thinking the only time we get them in potentially in the NCAA's.

Any word on trips back west? I flew to St. Cloud in the Jones' freshman year. Saw the 2 games.
I think at one point they had a couple of games in Denver. That was a while ago though.
Wherever they go as long as it's a single flight to get there from Vancouver. :)

Getting to Nebraska from Vancouver requires a dog sled, covered wagon and a minimum of 2 flights. :D

I'd be fine if UNH keeps ducking us. We already have one rival in New Haven, no need to bring the Chargers into the mix.

In all seriousness, we all know how much I hate New Hampshire and everything that stink hole represents. I swear to you, I was leaving the Whit last week and it actually smelled like horse crap outside. Hopefully Maine will put a nice beat down on them coming up.

In QU related news I got Chip's book in the mail today and finished it in about 90 minutes. It is a super quick read. For those of you that may have missed it, it is called "Hockey Haven" -- It details last season both about QU and Yale and has some great tidbits about CT hockey, notably the sport's history in the greater Elm City Area. I told Chip that now that he has done some nonfiction he should do some fiction. Write the same book but change the ending. Thoughts? I know LTsatch is on board.

If you see it around or online I'd suggest having a copy - I mean how many books can you get about QU hockey? It was really cool looking back at all the little moments and reading things like "Kevin Bui is one of the all time clutch players." Also I didn't know until reading the book that Russell Goodman was going to go to Colorado College but one thing led to another and he was able to come on at QU.

Hockey Haven is the perfect present for the holiday season.

Go Bobcats.

Larson, Two years ago that book would have been in the fiction fantasy section. The book is a nice rehashing of the historic season, and a must have for either teams fans. Did you guys give Chip a dorm room or something? His coverage of the teams this year has been heavily on the QU side, well deserved coverage though. I will be at what should be a great game tonight.

Game day at the Bank! Two top-5 programs set to battle it out on York Hill.

I think it will be a close contest. Two good goalies, and they'll likely be the difference.

Go Q!

He has been spreading the love for us lately. Honestly, I think he just likes bragging about the quality of D-I hockey here in the New Haven area, and deservedly so. That, and we did let him follow us to Alaska... ;)

See you there!
