Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Goalie Sean Lawrence last 3 games for the Juniors Bruins (Premier) has only given up 4 goals including 1 shutout.

Stats on the season (27 games, 25 starts, 20-3-1-1 record, 1.85 GAA, 940 SV%

DMan Kevin McKernan (Junior Bruins Premier)

Last 5 games has 1 goal and 2 assists and on the year 4 goals and 8 assists along with 38 PIM

John DeRoche (Junior Bruins U16)

He is second in the league in scoring with 18 goals and 22 assists (40 points) in 19 games with 14 power play points and only 2 PIM's. His last 2 games he has 2 goals and 7 assists.

And we picked up yet another Junior Bruins player as a recruit this time in goalie Keith Petruzzelli from the under 16 team. Probably see him in 3 years. So far in 14 games played he is 8-1 on the season with 2 shutouts and 1.34 GAA with a .924 SV%. He is a 1999 birthdate which is crazy.

Keith Petruzzelli, already standing at 6-foot-5 (and possibly projecting to 6-9), has been the object of many Division 1 program’s attention without yet having played a high school game.

Also from this article it looks like we picked up his brother as well.

D.J. Petruzzelli, a junior forward with the Panthers, posted 4-20-24 totals last season, while Keith Petruzzelli, a freshman goaltender on the varsity program, becomes the first 1999 birthdate player in the nation to give a hockey commitment.

14 year old goalie Keith Petruzzelli of the Jr Bruins just committed to us. First player born in '99 to commit to a hockey program. I have no idea if this kid is good or great but don't you just get the feel we're a legit program now that we get 14 year old kids wanting to come.

I guess I wasn't the first to see this hahaa

From the ESPN Boston article it looks as if D1 programs were recruiting him. His numbers are pretty good as the lead goalie on the U16 Jr. Bruins team that features fellow recruit Johnny DeRoche.

This must have just happened....Landon Smith is showing as committing to Univ of Denver.
I can't see him as committed on the BCJHL site or the Salmon Arm team page. As of 2 days ago
there were 3 schools on his "finalist" list. So he's decided to "go home".

That is old I believe. He is still not committed. Elite prospects sometimes gets it wrong. I go off Heisenberg's list and College Hockey Inc before elite prospects. I'd also wait for the BCHL page to show his commitment.

I hope you're right as I was hearing QU might be in the running.
This kid is a natural goal scorer!

From what I hear BU is out. This would be a huge win for us. 35GP 30G 25A are absurd numbers. Hopefully he makes the right decision
After last year not one BCJHL player says "Who?" when the name Quinnipiac Bobcats comes up!!!

A few months ago I was at a public event in Langley BC, home of the Rivermen. They had 3 players passing out some type of promotional sheet.
I walked up behind them and said, "I bet you guys would like to play for the Quinnipiac Bobcats some day." All 3 whipped around with smiles on
their faces and a big "You bet!". :)

Absolutely would be a huge win and would replace the loss of what we thought we would be getting with Peter Quenneville this year.

Salmon Arm's last game before Xmas is the 22nd. They don't play again until Jan 3rd.
I'll bet Landon will be fielding a lot of phone calls. Go get him, Rand! :)

Do these young guys take into consideration what type of degree they want out of their time
at university? Does it actually come into play when choosing a school? Or do they just want
to play hockey at a higher level?

Maybe but maybe not though Quinnipiac offers a ton of degrees ranging of business to engineering to communications along with medical and law degrees for graduate programs. They can compete with many institutions because of the amount they have to offer.

Well this story made me smile. I haven't kept as up to date on these prospects as some of you, but do appreciate you guys summarizing all the research here.

Long breaks are brutal...
